Me and Roberts Express transported a lot of thoe LNG tanks .... from Urbana,Ohio to Detroit back in the 80's. The tanks are lightweight, becase they are wrapped in about 6000 wraps of fiberglass .. (ok, maybe not that many) :D , but they are wrapped time and again.

I would imagine Landstar will hold van drivers to the same standards as the bigger boy's. Even though we would not "technically" be required to comply with Fed rules. I have always used a hands free, it is just so much simpler and my arm gets tired holding the thing to my head anyway...

And .... when I asked Landstar why we, (Landstar contractors), did not get first pick of "the good stuff", they were adamant that NLM works as a separate business. Just because they own it did not mean they cherry picked it. NLM is their own business, simply owned by Landstar.

Spekaing only for myself, (since Landstar is an agent based carrier), build a repore with the agents you prefer to work with. Let them know YOUR preferences, and assure them you are dedicated to serving their needs. An agent based company is a "group" of companies under one umbrella...

The carrier should not be a part of the decisions .. get your own, it simply uses your comapny's date to decide inspect, or not. I had the "Best Pass" for years in the semi, paid for it myself.

Does it matter where you live? Different areas have different markets. A viable option for you, (since you do not have to move in immediately,) might be a repo, tax lien, sheriff's sale, etc .. You are fortunate in this, a buyer's market, now to qualify for the loan! Buyers markets say...
