I think your post is right on. From what I read here panther is filled with favortism and retaliation. It appears Scott T. may be the true face of Panther and that is something they do not want out here. It is sad when a co. will go this low as to leave someone sit and possibly go bankrupt to...

    Delivery times..............

Question. Acme mower co. needs parts delivered by 11 am to keep line running. Parts are on your truck and you arrive at 11:25 am because of bad weather and accident. Amce charges your co. 8000 dollars for lost production due to line down 25 minutes. Who pays the bill?

    IS MY THINKING WRONG?

That is a big difference but look at the difference between a dollar per mile and 80 cpm. 12,600 dollars for 63,000 miles. I just think that with the amount of requirements to lease on to a carrier you should make 1.00 per mile plus fsc. I agree some companys will keep driving down rates and...

    IS MY THINKING WRONG?

76 cpm or 80 cpm. That is not a lot of difference there when you are hauling that cheap.

What is "having your own authority"?

How about 300 to 400.00 dollars up front for a van. That would include cargo insurance too. Then you can factor your freight bills and have cash flow in a day or two. It is a fairly cheap and easy deal to do in a van.

What is "having your own authority"?

You will need your insurance up front. 300,000 for a van or 750,000 for 10,001 and up. I used Commercial insurance solutions in Akron Oh. real good co. I used permits plus to file for the authority. If you are filing for 10,000 lbs. and under make sure they do not issue you a dot number. You do...

Positives AND negatives about your company

I drive for myself. The positives are that I set my own rates. If my costs go up then my rates go up. I do not have acceptance rates or in service rates to worry about nor do I have qualcom to track my every move. My rates are high enough so I can deadhead home after every run no matter how far...

    old conway-now drivers

Davekc They are not small independent drivers. They are small carriers that are independent and I do not believe they are hauling for pennies on the dollar.

    failed contract negotiation

Why would your driver be paying for workmens comp. workermens comp is an insurance policy for employers to protect them from damages awarded in lawsuits. I do not believe your driver is an employer is he.

    What kind of pay???

I average about 1.35 to 1.45 a mile in a van. Like you I deadhead home after each run. All my customers are located in the area I live. I take you have your own authority like do.

Are you true owner operator? with FCC

A independent owner operator is leased on to a carrier. A independent owner operator with there own authority is a carrier. The difference is just how independent you want to be.

    Truck Capacities

I see panther will hire 3/4 or 1 ton cargo vans. Isnt 4000 lbs. a little bit much for a 3/4 ton van.

    Internet sites for expediters

I have my own authority and I prefer this way because I deal directly with manufactoring companys. I can run any van I want. I now run a 1989 ford window van. The insurance is cheaper on this old of a van, currently 180.00 a month for all insurance including 50,000 dollar cargo. I also expedite...

    Do you need more freight?

I have my own authority and one cargo van. It is working great for me.If you live in an area with some manufactoring that does some expedite loads you can make this work.I deadhead home after every run and still make good money.

    Driver Shortage

I have been expediting for about 5 years now and I come home after every run. I started driving a co. owned pickup, then leased my van onto the same co. and now have my own authority. There are other cos. in the same area that have vans and they all come back home after every run too. This is...
