    Hino turbo

No sync necessary, it will take care of itself. Their lifespan? That varies. First, it's considered normal for them to pass a little oil. They all do it. It gets a little trickier on trucks 2008-up since they got rid of the road draft tube. crankcase gases get pulled in before the turbo, so...

    I despise the CAT C7.

A valve adjustment? I can't see that taking more than about an hour.

    I despise the CAT C7.

I'm not sure he'll want to drive halfway across the country for it, but I'll run it by him. Thank you. We're going to be doing this in his backyard, so I want the engine to be plug-n-play. Getting the transmission out with a transmission jack on a piece of plywood is gonna be fun. I guess...

    I despise the CAT C7.

A buddy of mine has an '04 Freightliner M2 with a CAT C7. Approx 350k miles. He was finished for the day and was cruising home unloaded when poof, it's blowing light colored smoke and it's down on power and misfiring. He limped it back home. We started dicking around with injectors. Replaced...

This dimension is undefined. Not in the book. I'm interested to know why you want this measurement.

I'm very sorry to hear that, and I know exactly what you mean. I have literally run around the shop yelling "Righteous Indignation! " when I see someone half-assing something, especially in regards to engine cleanliness and air conditioning. I've mentioned before that Hino dealers are almost...

07 hino hose that connects to turbo keeps coming loose any suggestions?

It sounds like the truck is fairly new. Sometimes we see a newer truck come in with the same recurring fault a few times, like it's having some teething issues. In particular, there have been a couple that have had EGR outlet temp sensors that have skewed values. After replacing that sensor...

Sorry to hear that it finally gave up. I'm impressed with the number of miles you've put on it. Most of the ones I see are driven by people that don't care nearly as much as you do.

Not really, but they do leak occasionally. It's mostly apparent when an injector is removed. You can see corrosion down in it. How actively is it blowing out coolant? Is it a small stream of bubbles going into the overflow? Sometimes we see atmospheric air getting pulled into the cooling...

Well, if the power is ok and oil consumption low, then I'd consider just doing main and rod bearings, which someone could accomplish before lunch. The last inframe I did included a turbo, injectors, a connecting rod, a CAC, every moving part of the cylinder head, and a camshaft (they ran it...

07 hino hose that connects to turbo keeps coming loose any suggestions?

I'm not sure which emissions devices Australian trucks have, but over here they have a particulate filter and an SCR catalyst for NOx reduction. When you select system check and it says No Fault, hold the up/down toggle in the UP position for ten seconds or so. It'll start displaying...

07 hino hose that connects to turbo keeps coming loose any suggestions?

Ok, time out. 2007 Hinos don't have a DPF so they don't do regens. Perhaps you have a 2008MY truck built in late 2007. In any case, sounds like you're having the frequent regen blues. The other CAC hose, the one going from the CAC to the intake manifold, if you remove that hose and look into...

I am going to assume that it's the upper half of the rod bearings. At some point they changed the upper half of the rod bearings for increased fatigue resistance. I'm assuming the 07s had the original style. Is that mileage accurate? 1.3M? It's probably due a set of rod bearings.

    Sprinter glow plugs........Gotta share this.

I have a mini 3/8" drive impacting air ratchet that works well on these glow plugs. I just turn it down all the way and give it a few quick blasts. Hot engine, of course. The torque this thing makes is a fraction of what one could do by hand, but the vibration quickly loosens the plugs...

07 hino hose that connects to turbo keeps coming loose any suggestions?

Is the hose an OEM Hino hose? I know they are super expensive, but they work well. The Hino clamps are also thicker metal with beveled edges, compared to off the shelf hose clamps. The newest trucks are coming with two clamps on each end. Tightening with a screwdriver isn't enough. I use a 7mm...

If you pop the lower portion of the dash off, you'll come across a bundle of unconnected pigtails. One of these provides battery voltage all the time. Also in this bundle is connections for pto (if you want the ecu to control the pto, for example), and for cargo power sources (like lights...

No. And yes. A Matco code reader, a Snap-On Modis, and J-Pro Fleet all failed to pull engine codes. But 08-14 trucks will tell you engine codes. 08-10 trucks will show active faults. There is also an inactive fault menu. Use the mode button and up-down toggle. Hit mode until you see...
