We just bought a Xoom tablet from Verizon. It is can act as a mobile hotspot and we are trying the 10Gb / mo. Data plan. So far so good. Upgradable to the 4G LTE network. Also Wi-Fi capable so we don't have to burn the wireless minutes. Already have a Droid X, and it can act as a hotspot also...

Unfortunately, my three will be saddled with what would equate to a fairly sizable mortgage payment upon graduation in a few years. They are all "paying" their way through school with a combination of loans, work study, grants and scholarships. Not really sure how it will all pan out for them.
