2006 Hino 268 no power uphill

It's a radiator failure, but if coolant has made it into the transmission fluid that's a big issue.

2006 Hino 268 no power uphill

There is a definite link between the ABS light and transmission failure. When the ABS light is on , the torque converter unlocks. An unintended consequence was the fluid got much hotter and it overwhelms the trans cooler. I've looked at the circuit on a wiring diagram and found the one wire to...

    Straight truck with DD13

Has this engine had an inframe? Can you describe the amount of blow-by that comes out of it when hot? Generally speaking, an engine that makes it to a million is getting pretty close to inframe time if it hasn't been done already.

    No communication to DCU

First, disconnect any eld or GPS or any other aftermarket device that taps into the CAN. This has sent me barking up the wrong tree more times than I care to admit. You may need to do some digging to find devices that were hidden well to prevent tampering. Second, I would try replacing the...

2006 Hino 268 no power uphill

Hi Alex2. Are there any warning lights on? Have you had the truck checked for codes? There are countless reasons for low power. To access engine, DCU, BCU, VCS codes, an appropriate scan tool must be connected to the 16 pin connector. Not all scan tools work on Hino engines. To access...

    2012 Hino 268 Transmission

The Allison TCMs are failure prone, but it's also common to get water in the junction box behind the air filter. The CAN wires get water on them and it interferes with communication between the TCM and the rest of the truck

    2013 Transmission Issues

If there are communication issues, it could be caused by water intrusion in the junction box, located in the firewall directly behind the air filter. In particular, the large connector to the lower left. The red and white twisted pairs at the top of the connector commonly gets water on them and...

    Hino check engine light.

What software is being used to check for codes, and which diagnostic plug is being used? If the check engine light is on, there are codes. If everything is working correctly, the graph will go up to three bars, a regen will initiate, then the graph will return to zero. Depending on what codes...

    2018 Hino 195 COE

The banjo on the rail relief valve has tiny holes, the rest of the banjos that size are the same, I believe. Probably the best thing to do at this point is to plumb an auxiliary fuel source directly to the pump inlet and go for a wide open test drive. This will rule out the entire fuel supply...

I'm ADHD AF, so if I don't get notifications on my phone there's like a 2% chance I'll remember to follow up. I have hopefully set my phone correctly to get notifications. Has this been resolved?

    Loss of power

Yes, that's normal. Check the wiring harnesses near the ITV carefully, sometimes the wires rub through and short. ITVs don't often fail electrically, so I'd expect harness issues.

    Loss of power

Was it going an automatic regen at this time? It will try doing one when the DPR graph hits three bars. Low power during regen on 2008-2010 trucks is generally an airflow problem. Do a search for how to modify the ITV, make sure the throttle plate is very secure on the shaft.

Strange lack of power after brake repair

Sounds like a brake switch correlation issue. Make sure the plunger of the uppermost switch is fully depressed with the pedal released. Twist it counterclockwise a quarter turn and it will pop free, the push it in until the plunger is depressed and turn it clockwise to lock it back in.

The SCV is a suspect. Also, using DX2, go into system protection data and look at the recorded fuel temp. If it's over 200F that suggests a high rate of internal leakage in the pump.

    2008 Hino 338 P0087

I definitely understand trying to rule out every possibility. I don't know if your scan tool can access this, but there's a data group called system protection data that has historic things stored, like the highest fuel temperature logged. If this temp is over 200f, it's a good sign that the...

    2017 hino p204f

P204F is not related to a regen problem. That suggests a problem with DEF/SCR. The scanner must be able to talk to the DCU to have any chance of fixing it.

    2008 Hino 338 P0087

The SCV is asking for maximum fuel pressure but the pump cannot keep up with the demand. To find out if it's a problem with the fuel supply to the pump, disconnect the banjo bolt and line from the supply port, look inside the port for debris, and if clean, connect a test banjo line directly to...

    J08E Diesel question

The 2014 is the last year of the burner system, and it's got a couple other technical things that make that year a little unique. The burner system isn't perfect, and to properly fix it he'll need software that can talk to the different modules. The Cummins engine has some pros and cons...
