    Fleet ?

I have been with Panther since July 22, 2006 and have yet to go to Seville, Ohio. I haven't even been to Medina, Ohio. I have been to Medina, Minnesota and once when I was about 13 or 14 years old I rode in an Cadilac Sedan DeVille. Does that count? Did I meet the minimum requirements?

    reducing wear on your equipment

Highway Star: Thank you for the suggestion. But I think the gist of Leo's post was to reduce wear on our equipment, not abuse it.

    Sprinter Cargo Securement

I used PL-400 and screws. You may want to save some plywood to cover the insulation you put where the window should be. Also while you have your headliner down you may want to consider using PL-400 to glue a block of 3/4" plywood or hardwood to the roof to be used for mounting a cb radio...

    reducing wear on your equipment

I use a Mr. Buddy propane heater in my van. But I turn it off and unscrew the propane bottle before I retire for the night. The manufacturer claims these are safe to use indoors but warn against operating it in a room used for sleeping. It has a low oxygen sensor that will shut the unit down...

    Hillary, Big Oil and Profits

I believe the national average tax on a gallon of gasoline is about 40 cents. That is 40 cents PROFIT to the state and federal government. Do the oil companies make 40 cents a gallon profit on gasoline?

    Alternative Fuels. Bad Corn/Good Corn

He who lobbys with the most money, goes home with the most money. The American Corn Growers Association has lots of money. All across the corn belt new ethanol plants are being built. Good sugar comes from sugarcane. Canes aid frail people when walking. Bad sugar comes from beets. Frozen...

I've yet to see a UPS expediter.

UPS as a company has a tradition of being slow to diversify into other sectors of the transportation industry. They began shopping for a LTL carrier in the late 1980's. Look how long it took them to buy Overnight from Union Pacific. Of course those last few years were probably spent waiting...

    Driving in snow tips

Good tips. Also avoid any sudden maneuvers like braking and turning. Increase following distances. When it is cold and the snow is dry I like to keep my windshield cold. I run the heat out the floor vent only. Snow will not melt or stick to cold glass. It just blows right off as long as...

    Alternative Fuels. Bad Corn/Good Corn

Good grass is grown in America. Bad grass is grown in Mexico. Really, really good grass man is like grown in South America or some place foreign and far away. Good grass is a bio fuel. Bad grass is used to feed cattle and make meat, cheese and milk. And meat is still bad. I think cheese and...

    Pusher down or up???

If they are that close then my uneducated guess would be that it shouldn't be a problem. I have seen drivers with flats and step decks raise the forward axle when maneuvering in tight spots. These usually have a 10' spread so raising the axle makes a big difference. Making a sharp turn with a...

    Pusher down or up???

I would think that running with the pusher axle down would be fine. When maneuvering in a tight area raising the the axle would reduce tire wear and scuffing. What is the distance between the pusher and the drive axle?

    What's Up With This???

I have found with Panther, in a van, on loads exceeding 700 miles, if I get ahead of schedule they will force me to take a 4 hour break. If there is no time for a 4 hour break then it is straight through. It is all about time not safety. Personal note to Kenny G. Are you the guy that...

    Trucks passing in the night

Broom: I have a 2004 GM product and it does not have automatic headlights. Greg's van uses the headlights as day time running lights. The switch for this is located at the base of the parking brake pedal and can be bypassed and a toggle switch installed on the dash. I did this with my 1998...

    CBs

I always have my c.b. on with the volume low and the squelch turned up. If I hear alot of chatter I will tune in and listen. When you are stopped in traffic due to road construction or an accident it's a little late to turn on the c.b. I have also received excellent local directions from other...
