    Eyes On Express-1

Ken, I know you and I and a few others want to make more and drive less. Reading these very forums makes me believe we're in the minority. Most want more miles not more dollas.* *tj

    Feeling richer?

I believe the linear relationship between these two statements can be expressed with a correlation coefficient. But when it comes to mixing numbers and letters, well that ain't natural and way beyond my abilities. I'll let a math head explain the correlation between miles and disappearing savings.

    Ford or GMC HCV van

The HCV and CargoMaxx are two different vans. The CargoMaxx is built on a cutaway platform while HCV is built on an existing van body. If I were to get an HCV I would go with the Chevy/GMC because of the 155" wheelbase. I prefer the long wheelbase for the ride and loading options it offers.

Imaginary Planet Blamed for Earth's Woes

At least this earthquake wasn't the result of human induced global warming. Keep an eye on the rogue planet Tralfamadore. This planet has been linked to leaks into parallel universes.

Indiana college to not play nationa anthem

How dare a private college opt to play "America The Beautiful" instead of the "Star Spangled Banner". Does the Department of Homeland Security know about these terrorists?

    Ill Approves TOLL INCREASES

Tollway officials say the new rates will still be a bargain and allow them to reduce congestion, create thousands of jobs and address badly needed improvements like widening and rebuilding to Jane Addams Tollway (I-90) between Rockford and O'Hare International Airport. The stretch of the...

New Driver - Who to Drive For??

Glad somebody got it! I just noticed the original poster is 44 years old, probably too young to get it.

    Vice or Virtue

Sometimes I like to take a stand against the GAME. Many think it foolish of me and eventually the GAME will grind me into the pavement, but I feel better about myself and even a bit righteous. Yeah, another ignorant rebel without a real cause. I'll save my strength and phone minutes for...

    Vice or Virtue

Of course. It was a decent paying load and I did accept it on Monday. It really isn't about the $18 difference. For me it's about how and why the difference in rate per mile and the actual mileage could change in 24 hours. I realize it is their game, their rules and their field. Sometimes I...

New Driver - Who to Drive For??

You are either very kind and generous or you have a reading comprehension deficiency.:D As far as the dispatchers and mileage calculations go, all carriers are different. Since you have done the expedite thing in the past, is buying a used cargo van an option? p.s. You must leave your gun at...

    Vice or Virtue

It sure does. A couple hours after I refused the load this thread is about I got another load offer. This was a bid load that was 783 miles, but at a reduced rate and .15 f.s.c. I turned that down. No problem, someone else took it. About 20 minutes ago I got a call about that bid load. The...

I feel fine! I've done this before and most likely will do it again. I won't lose my van because I turned down a $700 load. And I won't lose my mind reflecting on it because I lost that a long time ago. I'm just curious as to what others would have done and why.

Yesterday was 1@1500#. Today 2@1585#. I was 19 miles from the shipper and had plenty of time to make the delivery without swapping. The driver that is now on the load has an extra 159 miles and will probably swap. Maybe dispatch is sticking to their principles also!

    Vice or Virtue

Am I being greedy, virtuous(sticking to my principles) or just plain stupid? You decide. Monday morning I got a load offer: 711 miles, my rate and a .24 f.s.c. When I got there (metal foundry)the load canceled because the parts were defective. Shipper told me they would be cast again and...
