FMCSA New Initiative to Validate Driver Medical Cards

The only real or imagined problem I see with verifying a driver's Medical Examiner's Certificate is if some scale cop on the west coast wants to verify your medical card at 15:05 P.S.T. and your doctor is in the eastern time zone.

Report 5-hour energy drinks linked to several deaths

I rarely use 5 Hour Energy Drinks. If a hand full of White Crosses and some Benzedrine doesn't kick start me, well then its time to slip into my 100% organic hemp jammies and go to bed and dream about tabletop fusion in reverse at 3X speed. No wonder I always wake up tired.

    Hunter dies in van

My post did seem a bit Mongeresque now that you mention it. I just thought the use of the word "already" dead sounded funny. It should have read: The 54-year-old Zeeland man was found dead around 08:30 a.m.

    Hunter dies in van

Is it just me or do others think the word "already" in front of the word "dead" sounds like the prelude to a denial? I can see the sheriff's department spokesperson: "Yeah, he was already dead when we got there, stone cold dead. We never laid a hand on him, honest. He was deader than a dang...

    How many HATE this?

Expedite is a cakewalk. I'm with Xiggy on the 99% thing. Most shippers/receivers are happy to see me or at the very least, neutral. The other 1%, are a minor annoyance. If you really truly want to feel what it is like to be invisible, spend some time in a grocery warehouse. Once they do...

I think with Clinton it was the other way around.

20 states have filed petitions to secede

That may be true but one sure couldn't reach that conclusion from reading this forum. Does this mean that the lazy 46% will get off their couch and go vote if their state has a secession vote? If they do vote will it be a pro-secession vote?

20 states have filed petitions to secede

I agree and think that would be the case with all states. Obama won the Electoral College vote and the popular vote. Even Red States would be hard pressed to find enough kooks to carry a majority on a secession vote. For those who are that unhappy with the recent presidential election...

Need to replace fuel pump in a chevy express van

Are you absolutely sure you need to replace the fuel pump? You're right, its not that old. Not only shouldn't the tank straps be "too seized", but the fuel pumpl should not have failed this soon. I'd have a chat with the service manager at your local Chevy dealership. Then, if necessary...

    Veterans day

Thank you veterans for your service to our country! I spent the day with my father in-law, a WW II Navy Corpsman who was stationed in the South Pacific.

A tip of the hat to all Americans

Cast aside your short sightedness and hatred brother and practice what you preach. Open your eyes, mind and soul to the Lord. Read, comprehend and live the simple truths presented in the following message by Pastor Al: If you are a genuine believer and follower of Jesus Christ, the question...

    van question

It is a cost. If you had a gasser like I do, you could just buy gasoline at BP like I do. Their gas comes with Invigorate. With Invigorate coming straight from the pump I don't need no stinkin' additives. Invigorate has changed my life. Since using Invigorate I think my hair has started...

    van question

In general, true, especially with pickup trucks. How many high mileage, expediter driven E-350s has Mr. Parker sold? I don't believe two identical E-350s, with 500,000 miles, that the diesel will sell for $4000 (initial cost of diesel) more than the gasser. So much for return on investment...

    van question

I wasn't comparing cargo vans to Sprinters. You mentioned comparing an E-350 gasser to an E-350 diesel. Let's forget about Sprinters for awhile. Better fuel mileage I will grant you, but how much better? 3 to 4 MPGs? My cost for gas for this year, through the end of October is .21/mile and...

    van question

Why? Initial cost is more. Curb weight is significantly more than a gasser, which is important in our line of work. Fuel cost per gallon is generally more than gas, although a diesel will get better fuel mileage. Factor in fuel additives, call it a wash or slightly favor the gasser...

Even Carriers are having a hard time filling jobs.

It all depends on the carrier and its business plan. Compare Load One to Panther. Two different companies. Two different business plans. Which one do you think has a higher turnover rate and why? Some truckload carriers have a turnover rate approaching 150%, whereas less than truckload...

Every Expediter Needs To Experience This..

I have taken the Badger from Ludington, MI to Manitowoc, WI empty. Sorry, no pictures. I also did a round trip loaded from Marion, IL to Marion, KY on a small ferry across the Ohio River. . . . This was on I-29 just south of Pembina, no ferry involved!

Even Carriers are having a hard time filling jobs.

Excellent post John! I agree with everything you said, except the above. I do agree that there is a driver shortage. There has always been a driver shortage, well at least since I started in the trucking industry. But it is a contrived shortage, similar to gasoline shortages.
