Depends on the carrier and what your expectations are as to how much money you need to make. If you're ok with 400-600 a week after fuel then it would work. If you need more then it would be best to get your own truck. If you don't have the funds then working for someone is the way to go until...

Not really a fleet owner but I own two sprinters. I pay the driver 60 percent after expenses. So therefore I eat/cover 40%. We are working for .89 a mile... anyone know what happened to the surcharge over at panther premium?

Cause they knew a bunch of transit/prostar owners would come through after saving 5k off the price of a sprinter that they'd have some extra cash in their pockets to blow on the gas espars. Diesel never let me down. :D

That is somewhat of a problem but the issue is freight is down. Chicago was going strong at 18 loads a day a month ago and now it is half that. Dallas was doing 5, now its 2. Atlanta the biggest disappointment was at 12 now its 2.

Put a 53 footer on the Eisenhower interstate highway system and you should be ok with coast to coast coverage. Everybody wants a 53, its like the automatic word in this industry. Back hauls you name it.

Half a million in this game could mean 3 brand new Freightliner cascadia's or 50 2006 Sprinter vans with over 200,000 miles. ;)

Any other carriers experiencing the same? Is cargo van/sprinter freight just down at a very low point. I'd imagine mid march it will pick up but I've never seen it this bad. 2 loads a day in Atlanta, we are having to limit the amount of miles that we can travel outside of these cities...

Agreed but I wouldn't want to put junk on the road. Even a used volvo with over 500k commands well over 60-70 grand depending on year! Build a class 7 and you're still paying 40k for truck 10k for sleeper and 10k for the box. I've looked into it and its kept me out of the game, hanging strong...
