Preferential Treatment for Expediter Services . . .

So, if your truck said Panther on the side, that would mean nothing to you? :D

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

I don't know. I only know to make hay while the sun shines. The shippers are no different than those we have served before. The freight is no different than what we have hauled before. The difference is the shippers are shipping more and paying more. September ends the third quarter of 2010...

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

Yes, we have a nice truck. Yes, we have a rate that we will not go under. And yes, there are exceptions. We are in San Francisco now and Diane needs to get home to Minnesota for a dental appointment. If a load offer came along at $0.80 a mile that took us to Minneapolis, we would have jumped...

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

There are several things to think about when it comes to truck operating costs and revenue. Note that you get more of what you think about. If you think only about cost savings, you will end up in a little puddle jumper, rattle trap truck that has revenue limitations and future major costs...

    Feeling the Love

That's meaningless in the context of one courier in a truck with a driving team. When this courier was in our truck, she told me the story. She was on a cross-country run with this team and they kept the radio on Fox the entire trip while prodding her to talk politics and agree with what was...

    Feeling the Love

I would not characterize her as a brat or anything else. I don't know her. All I know for sure was how she behaved in the truck on this trip. Emotionally, we feel sad that she got banned and wonderful that dispatch backed us up like they did. She deserves the ban but that is not the story of...

    Feeling the Love

She was upset about having to stay in the passenger seat. She was willing to wear the seat belt while there. Regarding TV, bunk, snack, bon bons and such, we have never had a courier make any such requests. That is because we are very clear before the courier even enters the truck that he or...

    Comments From Dispatchers....

I hear that! And the fact that our carrier does not offer the best rate first makes it clear whose profits the carrier seeks to maximize. That's what makes it easy for Diane and me to hold out for a higher price. If our carrier is happy to mazimize its profits, we equally happy behave the same...

    Comments From Dispatchers....

I would not presume that dispatchers are tightly locked into what can or cannot be said in any situation but that there are general guidlines to follow (Dont' use the N word, don't use profanity, don't raise your voice, don't lie, be professional, be respectful, etc.) If someone's job...

    Comments From Dispatchers....

That's not a question I can answer since I do not know what a FedEx Custom Critical dispatcher's job description is.

    Comments From Dispatchers....

When asked this question, we sometimes give a straight answer and a specific dollar amount. It it is rejected we don't get tense. If they are not willing to pay whe we feel our time and truck is worth, it is better that we don't get the run anyway. More often, we answer the question with a...

    Feeling the Love

The concluding phone call happened a few hours ago and I remain not just surprised but shocked by the positive and unexpectedly strong support Diane and I received from dispatch yesterday and today. A courier was in our truck from Monday morning through late Tuesday afternoon. The freight was...

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

I cannot speak for others but only for Diane and me. We stay because we have yet to find another expedite carrier with which we can make more money with the truck we have; or by converting our truck to a dry box truck. Over the years we have contunually checked with various carriers and have yet...

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

No, we would not take that load; not because we were at home but because while we were on that load, a load paying twice that amount could easily pop up and we would miss it because we were on the $0.90 load. We would also decline it because the load itself does not pay enough to make it worthwhile.

    insanity finding a good driver

That's not a good trade. The upside gain of "a little extra cash" nowhere near compensates you for the downside risks of putting a driver in a van and a van on the road.

What is your bottom RPM you will run for.

In addition to the cost of running your truck per mile, the cost of sitting per day must also be considered. What's better, one or two runs a week that leave you sitting for half the time but pay $2.00 a mile, or several runs a week that pay $1.25 per mile but keep you moving most of the time...

    Questions..

Congratulations! Regarding your BA or BS, consider a double major with a practical course of study like business or chemistry (something that you will use in the real world) and a major that many people consider impractical like English, Philosophy or other liberal arts. I believe you will be...

    FECC BAD safety practice

That's a decision only you can make. There is the dumb stuff and there is the money. Being money motivated myself, I would think that the money would have something to do with your decision to stay or leave.
