    Beware in Dallas

Out of curiosity, are some makes/models of trucks easier to break into than others?

    Sleeping on the floor

Seems to me that with regs governing sleeper size, accessibility, and occupant restraints that putting a codriver on the floor or anywhere else will violate FMCSA rules and there is also a reg about unauthorized persons in a CMV that may apply as well. 393.76 392.60

    Ten Wheeler

How many miles before they wore in? What's your mileage figure? Interesting, so what sort of conditions was that - pack snow, ice, a mixture? I forgot winter still hangs on some places - its all but over in WA, supposed to be 65-75 depending how close to the water you are.

    Ten Wheeler

Right along with the debate on whether they are any good? I like the idea but am concerned about wet weather traction and to a lesser extent how they handle snow/ice.

LDB - some questions on your W9

Ya, that was actually my first idea but for some reason the company wants to stay with a straight truck. And going with a T/T will definitely bump the weight high enough for heavy vehicle tax..............although I admit I have no idea what that would cost. As far as wheelbase goes I guess...

    BAKKEN Oil 500 Billion Barrels

Saw something on TV the other day about Alberta's tar sands - nothing new there I thought but it went on to say there is more oil there than all of the middle east but extracting it has not really been cost effective until now. Lets see what opec does with their prices if sale drop...

LDB - some questions on your W9

Looking at the photos and plugging in some known figures it looks like around 300"WB.......does that sound about right? When you say the TC is HUGE...........does the 24" difference in axle placement make that much of a difference - all else being equal? Say you have two identical trucks, one...

    ooops

This is the sight that greeted me this morning just over the border in Canada. Southbound approach to the border, perfectly straight road, 3 lanes wide and the driver neatly put truck and trailer over the curb, sidewalk and in a 4ft deep ditch...........to make matters worse it was directly...

LDB - some questions on your W9

If things work out I'm hoping to put together a T8 or W9, I know you prefer the 660 for a number of reasons but I really like the traditional look. It will be used mostly for local cross border P&D and maybe some regional runs. If the dimensions work out I'm looking at a W900S (short, sloped...

    Cargo Van Questions

If that is only in MI, simple answer...................MOVE - granted moving ain't cheap either but it solves your problem. Plus there are loads of long haul jobs out there and many will pay your CDL training, although you would need to stay there for a period of time or have to pay it back if...

    Cell Phones/Drunk Drivers

Quebec have just enacted a cell phone ban while driving and you don't need to be talking on it to be tickets - according to the officer on the news report merely having it in your hand will get you a ticket as it is presumed you are either using it or about to use it.

    660 Expiditer

I don't know - I think maybe Washington State Patrol is colour blind but sharp eyed. I got pulled Friday, rural area, straight road, not speeding but she spotted my "pull me over Ontario plates" as I passed and next thing I know I got lottery lights in the mirror. Turns out she was trolling...

    Lifts

I don't really care about locking to docks, in fact I've never even seen one of those things. For me the bumper is little more than a step to climb in the box and a place for dock bumpers.

    Lifts

Just wondering what your preferences for lifts are - tuck under, rail gate, slider? I was thinking a rail gate would be good for a couple or reasons. First is they don't seem to get beat up the way a lot of tuck unders do, generally have larger platforms, don't interfere with an ICC bumper and...

    Sleeping in a Dump

Did it happen to be a KW 36" flat top? I've seen the occasional one like that and my guess is just for extra space in the cab.

    Pets- Cranberry Coast Cats

Wipes? LOL.............I meant full on bath as in stick the cat in the kitchen sink and hose it down, soap - rinse tumble dry. Those Siberians and similar like the Norwegians or Maine Coons are pretty but keeping those coats looking good means lots of bathing and brushing. Devons have a look...

    Pets- Cranberry Coast Cats

As mentioned above there are two breeds which are potentially good choices for allergy sufferers. Those are the Cornish Rex and the Devon Rex, apparently the Sphynx is not. If it were me I'd choose the Devon over the Cornish for a couple of reasons, first I'm not partial the slinky body type of...
