    slow down, save fuel

Here's something I saw on the news last night. The bottled water consumed by Seattle required 56 barrels of oil to produce the plastic bottles. so56 barrels a day just for Seattle's bottled water - with metro Seattle being around 4 million people that's about 5110 barrels per million for the...

    Refining shortage???

Oh there's plenty of diesel and jet fuel headed north - I see a steady stream of tankers every day. So if farmers burn more diesel to make bio fuels - how is that helping things........apart from driving up food prices that is?

    What Truck To Buy??

$95K for a Hino? Seems like you could get a nicely equipped T370 for that kind of cash.

    Securing Personal Items

For pallet jacks the thing to have is one of these pallet stops - I have one and would never be without one. I used to see Conway drivers with these when I worked on a dock and could never understand why they ALL used them. They work so well that you can park the jack in the middle of an empty...

    Overall Length

Here's some I saved, the first two were on here I think - the blue one was on truckpaper not too long ago. As I recall it had the smaller (90"?) sleeper a 29 or 30ft box and you can see the railgate out back.

    Overall Length

Straight trucks?............I thought the 40 foot rule was federal. Shortest BBC around is one of the IH 7000 or 8000 series, otherwise I think you can still get an Argosy 110 and still have room for around 29 feet of box.

    Fuel Economy on Different Platforms

hmm..........well, I really don't know - they don't exist. What I meant was all else being equal in the specs. You wanna plug in a common figure?

    M2 Brakes & Bags

LOL - that's ok, more is better. I figured there was a leak somewhere, any idea where to look for the HCV? I'm not particularly hard on brakes but I don't know the condition of them before I got it a year ago. Supposedly "something" was done on the brakes last December but I have no idea...

    M2 Brakes & Bags

2004 M2 w/ air. How well do linings wear and how often do the brakes in general need inspection? Also, lately I've noticed the air bags are sometimes (but not always) totally collapsed when the truck is parked overnight - doesn't seem to matter if loaded/empty, parking brake set or not...

    T/T Gap

IN BC there tags, drops, pushers of any sort are not allowed except on mixer trucks - they are allowed a retractable tandem. I don't see why though, it seems like more rubber on the road is a good thing.

    T/T Gap

:LOL That's actually very good, just what I was looking for. Is that with or without extensions or do they matter? Which pin depth is more common?

    T/T Gap

hmmm................I didn't expect so many variables. Is there a generally accepted figure for MOST trailers without it being more than necessary nor so small you can't jacknife it?

    T/T Gap

Anyone know what is the minimum tractor - trailer gap with/without cab extensions? I realize this can vary according to what trailer and if it has a refer or not but is there a generally accepted figure for "most" trailers? How much do most 5th's move forward/back?

    Beware in Dallas

Yeah, but isn't there a stretch of 401 getting known for hijackings? Saw something on TV, W5 maybe, about this becoming quite a problem. I suspect this may even cross brands...........say any FL product, PACCAR products, etc. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if some car keys fit - went to...

    Beware in Dallas

Well, its NOT why you were thinking - LOL - I mean if one where looking to buy a truck, are some more theft resistant than others. Specifically the bulkhead type doors you see in a Pete, KW or FL. For example I understand there's a small hole in the bottom of FL doors which if you insert a...
