    Canada border crap

RE: WHat is WRONG with you people ? RE: border cr Sorry guys, was just trying to find out if they were allowed to ask me what I owned in my house. Geeez, did not mean to start WW5. Yes 5. 3 was called the cold war, 4 is the war on terror and this would have been 5. Sorry. Basic high school...

    Canada border crap

RE: WHat is WRONG with you people ? RE: border cr I have nothing against the Canadian people. Your government has been very hostile of late. I hope that things will change with your new government. I have several friends that were stopped and boarded by Canadian Coast Guard in U.S. waters. One...

    Canada border crap

I know I enter a different country when I enter Canada. I live on the border, south of Detroit. I will ALWAYS answer questions that pertain to my truck and load. NO ONE in Canada, or the U.S. for that matter, has the right to ask me what I do or do not own in my home. My papers were in order, my...

    Canada border crap

Who else has been asked by a Canadian border guy if you owned guns at your house in the U.S.? I have. Then the guy got up into my face and told me that "When he finds the guns I have hid in my truck he will put me in jail." I had none and did not go to jail. Where do these guys get off asking me...

    not so newbie

Ok, I will then. We have been happy with the way things have been going this first year. We have made mistakes and learning from them. We are working on getting our own truck in the next year or two. Then, who knows, maybe start a small fleet. Might as well dream big.

    not so newbie

Ok guys, when do I get to be a not newbie?? I have been at this a year and I still seem to be making mewbie mistakes. I was told by a "C" reefer guy last week that his team averaged between 6-8 thousand a week this year. I must me newer than I thought I was. I just can't seem to make that much...

    truck seats

I have a question on this, is there such a thing or a place that measures you to see what size seat you need? IE: low rider etc. It would seem to me that it would be a good idea since everybody is soooo different. My seats tend to cut hard under my thighs, I have to lower them till they almost...

    New husband and wife team

For what it's worth I would also suggest that you guys look into running a "D" unit for an owner. I have been on the road almost a year now and my wife joined me last Sept. We enjoy what we are doing but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy I started with an owner. It has helped me to avoid alot of...

Revisit of the APU 400 lb exemption

On the subject of the AGM's, the secret to them is proper charging. They should not be over or uncharged. They hold a charge well, losing only about 2% per year on the self. Old style flooded cells lost 2-4% per month when not in use. The AGM discharges differntly than the flooded. The old...

Revisit of the APU 400 lb exemption

Greg, You might want to re-visit the Optima battery idea. They are good batteries but too much money for what they are. In one of my past lives prior to working this business I sold marine stuff, including batteries/chargers etc. To my way of thinking I would buy the Dual-Pro Lighting series...

    DUTY TIME ON DAYS OFF

We drive with FDCC and as long as we are in service the days count. We have often got pre-dispatched on a Fri for a Mon load. Gives us a full weekend to see the sights. We have not got very good at the sight-seeing stuff yet. We are going to try KOA camps etc. We did have a really nice weekend...

    NEW TRUCK vs USED TRUCK

Hi, I am a not so new newbie and would be happy to pass on what little I know. I had the same thoughts when I started, I am sure glad that I did not buy a new truck. The money has been there to make payments on a new truck, no problem with that so far. I decided to drive for an owner. I rode...

By all means keep going Phil, I can use any and all help. My wife Jan and I are full time expediters as well. We are with FedEx and run a DR unit. We really enjoy the business but we would enjoy it even more if we can get some quality "country" time. We left the Petro in W. Memphis after she...

We have always stayed at truck stops near the layover express center while waiting on a load offer. This time we got pre-dispatched late afternoon on Fri for a Mon pick-up. An entire weekend to outselfs. We would not want to hurt our chances of work by being too far away from the centers while...

Great stuff as always. We had this weekend off in North Little Rock. It turned out not to be much fun. First was the motel that did little to live up to it's advertisements. Then the Panhandlers, long walks to resturaunts in areas not to good to be walking in. We really have to get better at...
