Maybe they can't, but I can. LOL!! Why in the world would ANYONE want to fill in wetlands anyway? Why would you want to "fill in" 80 acres? Man, you don't know squat. :p I told you before, if you want more information, advice and suggestions on that land, let me know. I KNOW the right people...

panther and owners pulling trucks out

It is all in how you account your money. Here is how we look at what a run pays. A couple of examples below: Sitting at a shipper, no DH, 1000 loaded miles, pays $2000.00. That is $2 per mile. Sitting 500 miles from shipper, DH 500 miles, truck is empty, higher fuel mileage, 500 miles...

Well, as to the DH, 2+ per mile, empty or loaded, makes no difference to me. In fact, I make more PROFIT running empty, DHing to a pick up, than loaded.

I did not take it as wanting to make the U.S. feel "guilty". I took it more as just looking at things from a different point of view. We DO whine too much in this country. Yes, being poor is hard, even here. We in this country have the ability to fix that problem and, for the most part...

All those trucks leaving FedEx sure seem to be helping OUR business.

Shoot Greg, what does the government know? They lump the Great State of Michigan into the "mid-west". WE are our OWN region, the Great Lakes Region. Man, everybody knows that! Except the government of course. Geez, how silly can they get?

They don't need to "protest" to get rid of those practices. They need to start voting out those who impose this stupidity on us. We need to do away with all the socialism and get back to earning our way through life.

I sure seems that way, does it not? People tend to forget, that for the most part, their lives and their success or failure in that life are the result of their own decisions. The choices one makes in life has FAR more control over the outcome of that life than "bad luck" and "being held...

bracing for 1st snowstorm of the season

We are using a Hamilton Beach "Brew Station". It does not have a carafe to break. It keeps the coffee hot for 2 hours after it brews. We have had very little mess with this one. Nice not to worry about breaking a carafe. We will often run a cup or two of just plain water through before we make...

That was to point of this story. It is hard to imagine that in MOST of the world the poor are starving to death. In the U.S. many of those on welfare have an obesity problem. They are even ALLOWED to buy cupcakes with their welfare money. Canada has not room to complain either. For the most...

Not if you have horses and cowboy hats. It is dry enough to be part of the mid-west.

NO COFFEE???!!!?? Things are FAR worse than I thought they were!!! We have a coffee pot, electric skillet, Rocket Grill and a George Foreman Smart Kitchen Multicooker in the truck. Along with our microwave. We make coffee in the truck as often as we can. It is far cheaper than...

bracing for 1st snowstorm of the season

Everything here is hunkydory!! Mrs. Layoutshooter is cooking oatmeal. I am working on my first cup of coffee. It is sunny and 42 outside. They are calling for rain tomorrow. Our ONLY problem right now is BOREDOM!! There is just so little to do. At least we are not broke down. I know that feeling.

This article has an interest perspective on the OWS crowd and American's in general. Maybe we don't need protests as much as we need another heavy dose of that good old American work ethic. Maybe many of those who "protest" and "complain" have done everything they could to put themselves into...

bracing for 1st snowstorm of the season

Glad I could lighten up your evening for you! :D Every season presents is "challenges" to us expediters. My first cargo box got eaten (totaled) by a hurricane. This one got "hammered" by tennis ball size hail this past spring. Snow and ice can bite you on the rump and a tornado can rip you a...

bracing for 1st snowstorm of the season

Don't forget, when in snow country, "DON'T EAT THE YELLOW SNOW!!" LOL!! That snowstorm in '82 dumped 26" in 14 hours. There was "thunder snow" that time. One of the few times I ever saw that. We sat under the Brooklyn Bridge for 3 days one time on a load, guarded as well. NO bathrooms...

Mrs. Layoutshooter just informed me that it was in April of 2010. We were on a load from Burnaby, BC to Houston, TX. We were checking the internet as we drove, got the road closure BEFORE we reached it. Stopped at the TA in Ft. Bridger, WY. We were there for 3 days. At least it remained open...
