    September Locations & Banter

I'm three of four of my kind in KC. At least I don't have to sit here and hold a clipboard all day. Is your Maintenance Report in yet?

Those birth charts are coming true.

That's gonna throw quite the monkey wrench into things like Affirmative Action. <snort>

    fuel surcharge

I think it matters a great deal, actually. Depends on how transparent they are in their route to get there. Otherwise, they may offer you enough to move your truck, and keep the rest.

And yet another new van coming

Rocketman nailed it, as usual. These new vans are going to be expensive to maintain and replace parts. The Ecoboost engine is proven, but it's still expensive to maintain. "Ecoboost" is the magical name for "turbocharged direct injection", not unlike the TDI (Turbo Diesel Injection) engine. They...

Missing tourist in Iceland joins search for herself

"Other passengers had not recognized the woman because she had changed her clothes and cleaned up after the stop in Eldgjá before reentering the bus, reports said." "The woman was described as "Asian, about 160 cm (about 5'3"), in dark clothing and speaks English well." Soooo, even in...

    Motorcycle?

Carriers will have and cause more of a problem than shippers will. But, if it's any help, I know one guy who tried it with a trailer and his straight truck, and he had to D&R when he went to most shippers and deliveries. One time he was held up at a shipper for several hours, then he ran out...

West Nile virus threatens Labor Day celebrations

I agree. As carriers of deadly diseases, mosquitoes are the deadliest insect on Earth. Each year, millions of people die from malaria, dengue fever, and yellow fever after being bitten by a disease-carrying mosquito. They carry and spread Japanese encephalitis, Rift Valley fever, Chikungunya...

    Child Preachers

Well, I know that some callings are real, but I also know that some are not. I think there's a very real question that needs to be looked at in that God calls only children in the US to be preachers, and virtually ignores all the other little children of the world in this matter. I'm thinking...

And yet another new van coming

The biggest knock that people have with the Sprinter is the engine and its related maintenance costs. I think these same people are going to be in for a big surprise when they find out that these new vans, including the Ford vans, are very similar to Sprinters in more ways than body style.

    2016themovie.com

I don't think so, because most people have already made up their minds and aren't even listening, anyway. Four years ago 40 million viewed McCain's acceptance speech, which was aired across 7 networks. This year, across 11 networks, only 30 million watched Romney, and his opening act was Clint...

What would you do? Makes me sick just thinking about it.

I think the world would be a cleaner place if we gave blind people brooms instead of those canes.

    Frickin Gun Owners

Not quite. The stabbing happened, this much is not in dispute. But we did not read that HE DID it, rather, we read where other people CLAIMED HE DID it. She was stabbed, and he allegedly did it. That's different than saying "he stabbed her", which is a statement of fact not yet known or proven...

It didn't need correcting, but I found it amusing enough to point it out. Thus, my non-comment comment to draw attention to the absurdity of the oxymorinic nature of the statements. Next time, I'll try to make it a point to be less subtle, so that you can get it, too.

Paul Ryan Republican speech 'contained errors'

Actually he didn't promise the Janesville plant would stay open. He promised that plants "like this" would stay open. That's very different from an unqualified "this plant, specifically, will remain open.

Justice is blind or just downright political

Well, a mob at the gates is an angry mob. There are many different kinds of mobs. The term "mob mentality" refers to group think, usually of the same type of thoughts, usually based on emotion, all in agreement with what they think should happen. Clearly, I should have used a different...

GOP wants Dr. Paul's followers, but not Dr. Paul

They offered him a slot, crafting the same conditions that every other speaker was given. But even if the conditions were crafted specifically because they knew Paul could not accept, he was still, in fact, offered a slot, which is not what Goober stated in his article. I stand by my statement...
