Is it the time of year or my location.

I am thinking it may be a slower week in some areas. Prior to Monday, it has been very busy. Maybe because there are more days in the month of March. Calm before the storm? Davekc owner 22 years PantherII EO moderator

Can you top this? Loads cancelled

Or you have expediter wars when the customer calls two or three different carriers for the same load. Davekc owner 22 years PantherII EO moderator

Stretching the frame on a class 8 tractor

Not sure specifically who is reputable for stretches in MI. 40 feet is your maximum length. Price is somewhere between 4,000 and 8,000. I wouldn't recommend this, unless you know exactly how it is going to come out. There are numerous issues involved in doing a stretch. Better off to do one...

    Lift gate, Reefer Question

It might pay to check out the archives as there are numerous posts relating to liftgates. Some love them, and some don't. I think it depends on the carrier and how they are used. Personally, I think they make a nice porch on the back of the truck, and that is about it. Just too many safety...

    Mid-America Trucking Show

We got our tickets several days ago, and my brother got his today in Michigan. I wonder if parking is the same with them tearing out one of the convention wings? Davekc owner 22 years PantherII EO moderator

    Back Hauls

Generally, expedite would be higher, but not always. Competition, location it is going, and from where determine the rate. The differences on a expedite verses a LTL can be alittle or alot. Davekc owner 22 years PantherII EO moderator

How many miles should you expect?

We do alittle of percentage, however Panther pays milage. Some of the loads we have brokered have been percentage, but not all. Bottom line is what it pays per ALL miles. Davekc owner 22 years PantherII EO moderator

How many miles should you expect?

I don't think whether your on percentage or milage has anything to do with whether you are running you business profitably. If you know what your cost per all miles needs to be, I don't think either matters. Only difference is one requires verification of what the customer actually paid...

    Fedex Rumor-Mexico

I would agree with the Colonel on this one. Most did all this last year or sooner. Or at least the ones that did alot of border frieght. Davekc owner 22 years PantherII EO moderator

    Crooked drivers

I quess I am in the five percent. We have been lucky the majority of the time as far as finding decent drivers. We have had a few bad apples, but not very many. Again, it is just probably luck, or my extremely good looks:7 Toot toot! Seriously, I actually enjoy what I am doing. It isn't always...

How many miles should you expect?

I would agree on the game playing. We have done both situations with a variety of different carriers, and I will say for now, milage pay has worked best for us. Davekc owner 22 years PantherII EO moderator

How many miles should you expect?

Adding another load is fine, as long as it is added as an addtional seperate load. Milage works just fine in these cases. If I am getting full rate on both, everyone wins. I should add that, I think the percentage deals work better, but only when doing the shorter runs. Davekc owner...

    Parking solution

totally agree: if I am treated as an "undesireable", then I take my money somewhere else. On that principle, I refuse to patronize gas stations that lock the doors at night, and take money through a window. ======================================= Thats a tough one. You don't know if they think...

How many miles should you expect?

Right on. The NET amount is what is of interest. And, that amount sustained over a period of time. Gross amounts mean very little unless you know what was spent to get to that number. I personally prefer milage pay. Percentage pay leaves the door open to alot of game playing. Several articles...
