    More About FedEx Truckload Brokerage

I thought it appropriate here using Talcal's provided numbers. There is no quibbling as I didn't provide any of Fedex's rate numbers. Just observations based on his posts. After all, he was a fleet owner looking at his investment with these rates over several trucks, and over a period of time...

    More About FedEx Truckload Brokerage

Wouldn't matter whether it is paid for or not. On a $200,000 truck, running at that $1.07 to $1.25 there is a negative return on the investment. That even assuming that the truck will never be replaced after it is worn out. If you were a financial planner, this certainly wouldn't be a...

Maybe Our Next Truck Won't Have a Reefer

Use a catalytic heater with a thermostat. Many trucks had them in the Roberts days including myself. Not as exacting as a TVAL unit, but for paint and such, it was fine. Just had to keep items from freezing. Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator

    More About FedEx Truckload Brokerage

Have to agree. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that the truck owner would have to pay for repairs and potential towing bills. It might take a rocket scientist to figure out how you would pay for that running a $200,000 truck at $1.07 to $1.25 per mile. Might take some fuzzy math to...

    torque and horse power

I second that. Leo's explanation is correct. If you are slowing down, it could be low horsepower and or, improper gearing that is reducing the torque and transfer of horsepower in order to sustain a certain speed. A Hino comes to mind with 260 horses and 585 pounds on the torque. That combo is...

    torque and horse power

Horsepower is the rating of power that a engine produces at certain RPM's. In layman's terms, torque is a conversion of that power at the drive wheels. Often measured in so many foot pounds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque#Explanation Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator

    is it slowing down

I think it is in certain areas. There was some holiday or something in Dallas last week. GM strike might have had a issue for some as well. We had a truck in Dallas last week, and we brokered out on the day they arrived. Way too many trucks there from just about every expedite company...

    More About FedEx Truckload Brokerage

Sometimes a company's spin on things, and what might be reality, are not necessarily the same. Limited exposure from one source doesn't eliminate the operating costs of a company that has to move its own trucks first. I think Talcal and Turtle's post amplify those experiences with the results...

    Nitrogen

This was probably one of my biggest concerns with larger truck tires. If the pressure has to be occasionally adjusted, how much fuel and time goes into running around to accomplish this? There are many more places for car or light truck tires, but it seems pretty slim on the larger ones...

    Interesting Email

True.....I think the point he is making is that the other divisions can move many of the perceived expedite shipments at a cheaper method via their company trucks. I am sure the logic is so they don't lose a potential customer. The problem is they are taking potential CC loads and moving them to...

    Interesting Email

Pretty much my thoughts Gregg. Not quite sure why Panther was brought into this thread? Two totally separate issues. Panther services their expedite division first, and then brokers the overflow or loads they can't cover or want. In this case, the Fed has heavy financial obligations to move...

Espear of Michigan::: Sponsers here at EO

When it comes to the Espar heaters or Rigmasters, Ray is one of the best in the business. Great service, actually knows what he is doing, and gets the installation done right the FIRST TIME. Doesn't always happen that way at alot of places. Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator

Finding the places seem to be the biggest hurdle with regards to truck tires. I believe I am going to take a truck or two and see how this does. The early comments sound pretty encouraging. Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator

FINALLY SAID GOOD BYE TO PANTHER

As in the case of this thread, it still boils down to not knowing their system, and not knowing the functions of the QC. Leo did a nice job of expanding on what I said earlier. The idea that fleet owners get loaded in front of the other drivers is not a true statement either. Some PERCIEVE they...

FINALLY SAID GOOD BYE TO PANTHER

Based on your last post, I would suggest a company that doesn't have a qual-comm. They are a difficult company to work with if you don't have that figured out. That would be a bigger issue than their amount of trucks. http://www.expeditersonline.com/dcforum/DCForumID1/6310.html#3 Good luck on...

    ForkLift/Tow motor rated box

The tow motors are the same as fork lifts. As far as the box, some manufacturers rate them different. Usually so many pounds per square inch. Frame on six inch centers would certainly be enough. But, you can go to twelve inches as well depending on what kind of flooring and its thickness or...

Fort Wayne..... You created your own problem, and then you complain. You need to learn how to work your QC. You should not have been out of service.
