    Retirement Benefits for Expediters

I seen a similar story tonight with the same woman on NBC Nightly News. Very true that one will need that personal nest egg, rather than banking on Social Security. Like Phil, I don't expect a dime. We have been lucky (there's that "L" word again) because we have many business interests outside...

    Electrical issues

You are right on track. A good RV dealer, or Bentz would be your best choice followed by ICT or ARI. You need someone that is good with electrical installs and diagnostic procedures. For that reason, I would avoid a standard truck dealer unless you really have a lot of confidence in their...

    Response to Greg's post

You can always do things to limit your exposure or increase your odds of obtaining freight. That isn't a guarantee of success. Luck does play a important role in how things turn. "Right place at the right time" really applies in our industry. I don't see how this isn't a factor in our business...

Does this sound fishy to anyone besides me?

Having a escrow account makes sense, but not for maintenance. The maintenance is the fleet owners responsibility unless possibly it is a lease/purchase deal of some sort. Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator

    Response to Greg's post

I clearly sympathize with your situation. We can speak from first hand knowledge of what can happen when things go south. We had to make many adjustments back in 2000 in order to keep things rolling. Even more so as a fleet owner maybe, because we had what we felt were obligations to our...

    Response to Greg's post

RE: terry's and rene's piece on early day's of exp Terry's article was a nice trot down memory lane. When we talked this week I was surprised that the article was written some time ago. Very good article and I thoroughly enjoyed the read. As to adaptation of the business climate, Phil quoted...

Any Elite drivers getting passed by for lower pric

RE: Any Elite drivers getting passed by for lower I would agree with Rich and Talcal. There is a market for them, but that is much different than a return on investment. If just looking at rates, I can make alot more with a flatbed than I can with a reefer, and have a fraction of the...

Any Elite drivers getting passed by for lower pric

RE: Any Elite drivers getting passed by for lower I think this post or thread may help guide some of the issues that effect the Elite division. We had a reefer for a short time and we did ok, but I can do much better with a dry van. As mentioned, way too many restrictions with a reefer. Some...

    Reefer Box Question?

It likely will have to have a EPA retrofit done on it. That year reefer can't be used in CA any longer. I think 2002 is the cut off. Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator

    Cat 3126 power boost.

On a 3126, cooling capicity is the biggest issue if you are going to increase the horsepower. That is the biggest difference you will see at the 300-330 hp range. Cat does well with a high RPM range for extended periods of time. That is why you see them in alot of marine applications. A twin...

    Cat 3126 power boost.

As long as your truck isn't under warranty they will do it. They also have a aftermarket version that will work as well. Not sure on the standard 3126, but I believe they can do it on the newer C7's. www.pittsburghpower.com Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator

    Electrical issues

We went the way of Turtle's explanation. We are running three truck batteries on one side, and golf cart batteries on the other with a solenoid between them for charging. It actually is working quite well. Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator
