    Panther Board Position

Two issues. The first is that if you move, it depends on the zip codes that you are moving to. That is why I would QC them to ensure your position. If for example it changed, you would have a point of reference. That is if it was of real importance. We move around and have no real problem. As to...

    Panther Board Position

If you are going to move, send a QC message to confirm your move. Loads are based on the radius of the customers location. We don't pay much attention to board position except for somewhere confined like Loredo or maybe El Paso. Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator

    Wheres the expedite freight?

    >Your comment "some are" thats what we are seeing as well >what does it take with CC to ne one of those. Heck last week >we ran at .90 per mile with all the deadhead . If we didnt >have the option of running other companies freight we would >have lost big time last week, what I dont get...

The Costs and Benefits of Large Sleepers

We like the big sleepers as much as the next person. But, I don't see were one would be more competitive. We had had numerous ones and there are as many pros as there are cons. Maybe more cons when you factor extra weight, and lost frieght capacity. The last one may become more of a critical...

Panther's Macro#8 should be given a humane death

RE: Panther's Macro#8 should be given a humane dea I believe the new zip code based system was suppose to be available in August. I think they found some problems with it, so I haven't heard lately when it is coming out. Without a doubt, the current system is useless except for QC distances to...

Fuel prices are we getting oiled?

Oops....you are correct in that it was BP with "rust" in the pipeline. I had Exxon on the brain for some reason. My bad. As far as Mexico, you are correct. I seen on the news wire a month ago that some of these new Mexican carriers were going to 400 gallon capacity per tractor to avoid buying...

Have Fuel Prices Changed How You Run?

I would question your source at Tri-State. Those numbers sound very questionable. $1.86.Ummm??? They pay $1.20 per mile so their FSC would be .66 cents average. "That dog don't hunt" Their company site says $1.10 to 1.20 per mile, plus .20 to .30 cents FSC. Davekc owner 23 years...

Saving Money By Extending Your Oil Change Interval

RE: Saving Money By Extending Your Oil Change Inte It depends on the type of test. Speedco for example is a very basic test. Engine dealers like CAT or Cummins send them to specific labs for testing. Several more tings are looked at with that type of test. Doesn't happen for 10 bucks either...

Fuel prices are we getting oiled?

Sometimes I do think it is a conspiricy of sorts. Or it seems like it. Prices are high now because of the futures market. Esentially saying that the world demand (not the US) is too high and we will run out. Purchasing foreign oil with a falling dollar isn't helping either. But, I do wonder...

    Fuel prices- Again

Fleet mpg averages are between 8 and 9 mpg. Not 10 mpg. Secondly it depends on how the FSC is calculated. Is it .35 FSC for ALL miles, or only loaded. Truck doesn't run on water to the pickup and to the next load. Don't see the carrier paying for ALL of the fuel at that number. If one thinks...

    idiot

What is sad is it is slowly looking like we are coming down to Hillary or Rudy. I can't say I am thrilled with either one. Bush has been a big disappointment, but I certainly think there could be worse. Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator

ok anyone of a good place for down & out expediter

RE: ok anyone of a good place for down & out exped >Dave that price includes Dead Head! ============================ He doesn't mention that in his post so I thought he was just talking loaded miles. In Greggs post, it would be more of a concern if he is talking .75 cent a mile and .96...

    A happy ending, I guess!

I would agree. The contracts would have to essentially be the same. Since the driver is working for the fleet owner and the fleet owner carries the investment, it would only seem logical that the contract originate there. Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator

ok anyone of a good place for down & out expediter

RE: ok anyone of a good place for down & out exped Not sure a flat rate or percentage matters much in this case. If he is doing Fedex loads at a total rate with FSC @ 1.20, that would certainly be the bigger issue. One would certainly have to hope there isn't much deadhead in that situation...

ok anyone of a good place for down & out expediter

RE: ok anyone of a good place for down & out exped Maybe a good time to plug OOIDA. I would use their spreadsheet to determine where you are at. As Linder mentioned, there is a lot of variables that come into play. If you are in a straight, you have to figure right off the bat 35 to 40 cents...

    Fuel prices- Again

I think the FSC's will have to come up, and it seems as though they are except for contracts that were signed six months ago. We had one at 18 cents which was sad, and we had a truck in MN today pick one up with a .55 cent FSC. As long as they average out, we will be ok. Davekc owner 23...

Is this only happening to us??

We have had the same experience only but a few times. We have also had some pay more than was quoted. Can't believe we are the only ones overpaid? Ummm......no one mentions those. Davekc owner 23 years PantherII EO moderator
