Be careful what you wish for. The NHTSA did a study and now has the FMCSA following up to determine if all vehicles operated in interstate or intrastate commerce should have drivers be required to not only have a medical card, but a full-blown CDL. Those non-CDL trucks that many people are so...

The biggest issue is that while you are on the phone you are not performing any work (compensated or not) in the capacity, employ, or service of, a motor carrier, or, performing any compensated work for a person who is not a motor carrier. You are off-duty and are thus free of responsibility and...

Man forced son to carry 23# rock

Oh, no, no, no. Thanks to the State's interest and duty in protecting junior, if senior takes junior behind the woodshed he will be charged with child abuse thanks to a phone from from an anonymous tipster who believes "time out" is the most appropriate punishement for any and all child...

20 Top Things not to eat and why

That's not entirely accurate. Salt must be declared specifically as salt. Pepper can be included as "spice," but it can also be listed separately. The term "natural flavoring" is specific and is coded into law. So is "artificial flavoring." MSG is required by law to be explicitly labeled as such...

Gowdy takes MSM to the woodshed

Man, YOU'RE the one who posted links to the entire press conference. After you did that, I asked the question. So, yes, the entire event is, in fact, the question. After watching the video of the entire event, yes, I can tell your for certain that those questions didn't shame those journalists...

Well, the opposite of cheap shot is praise, approval, commendation or complement. It certainly wasn't any of those. When you sit on the sidelines and toss into the conversation comments that are the opposite of the four terms above, the peanut gallery is the correct euphemism for botherers...

It's in the video. Oh, I do, I do. :) Because dark places aren't entered into now? A few patents will enter those dark places regardless of the law or outside interference. But a child's upbringing, including education, religion, discipline, should be at the sole discretion of the parents...

Nothing like taking a cheap shot at me from the peanut gallery. Characterizing giving someone honest information which they can work with as "kicking a guy when he's down" is a completely unfair characterization, and you know it. The guy deserves honest and accurate information, so he doesn't...

Gowdy takes MSM to the woodshed

The original was worded quite correctly. You simply misunderstood it (yeah, like that never happens on the Internet). It was worded in such a manner that allowed for misunderstanding, but that doesn't mean it was incorrectly worded. The first sentence states the reasons why I didn't bring it up...

Well, it gives some people a reference for the weight. But as a practical matter, when you snark at someone because you think their comment has nothing to do with anything, and then offer up this... ... one can't help but to sense some hypocrisy in the offing. Might as well give us the average...

Gowdy takes MSM to the woodshed

You misunderstand what I wrote. The part of the sentence you quoted left out a key word... "because." I stated that I didn't do something due to (because of ) this or that reason (implying that I did it for some other reason which should be obvious). A similar sentence with the same meaning...

Yes, as long as the GVRW on the door sticker doesn't exceed 10,000 pounds, you aren't subject to the regulations of a CMV. That's not an issue. A driver with proper medical clearance, meaning they meet the standards to physically perform the job, can drive whatever vehicle they like in...

    More bad news.

You've got it backwards. The FMCSA groups heavy haul trucks in with all vehicles over 10,000 pounds, because all vehicles over 10,000 pounds are considered a heavy vehicle. Heavy is heavy, and anything above 10,000 pounds is heavy. Yeah, that's exactly what the FMCSA wants people to do, operate...

Exactly. Those are carrier rules, not FMCSA rules. FMCSA rules only apply to Commercial Motor Vehicles, the definition of which is easy enough to find at the FMCSA Web site.
