    why are owners so crooked

I quess I am not following. If I was to apply for a job or anything else at say Zelda's Widgets, I would ask current and past employees what their experience was. Probably follow that with a little research on the internet and the like to gather additional information. I don't need to really...

    why are owners so crooked

Experience may play a part on some operational issues, but the core value of information would be there even for the novice. Just simple stuff. How is the owner to deal with. How long did you drive for them Does he pay on time? Who pays for what and at what percentage Does he use a...

    Give me some numbers!!!!please!

Since I was there 12 years ago, I think part of what you say is true, but a little reckless with "Just get in there and do you loads" A little more to it than that. Today you are running at similar rates, higher operating costs, with a depressed economy and a whole lot more competition...

    why are owners so crooked

Can't say it enough, get it in writing as mentioned, and check the reputation of that fleet owner by calling past and current drivers with that owner. If the owner can't supply names, their is likely a reason.

    Give me some numbers!!!!please!

I would agree with Star on his assessment. It comes down to, do you want roses or reality? If you are trying to enter and you are inexperienced, I would advise waiting as well. If you are to jump in, I would make sure your fleet owner or potential co-driver is not only experienced, but is...

Anybody using the turbo 3000 fuel saver from TA??

As I have said before, if it was as good as they claim, the engine manufacturers would be tripping over each other for the patent. Not just for trucking, but for any type of diesel application. The marine industry would love a fuel saving device. Most of the snake oil in the trucking industry...

Cool Pics of Shuttle Discovery Launch STS-119 March 15, 2009

We always enjoy them up in Flagler out in the front yard. Turns the ocean orange for about five minutes. Even that far away. Then it just looks like a bright light bulb. Is something to see though.

Hello I am wondering which company to put a truck on with?

For me personally, I like a little a both. Yep....a few cents less (maybe), and don't have the hassles of collections, DOT audits, drug screens, insurance, and well....you know the list. As for drivers, we have been pretty lucky. A few goofballs along the way, but no major horror stories. I...

    Learning to be proud again

It is always nice to see a opposing view. I will say that I am not ready to embrace Obama as you have based on what he has done so far. Actually, I don't see much of anything other than what we saw with the last administration except throwing more money around that we don't have. But it has...

I think that says a bunch right there. I agree with the others in giving it some time. There will always be a good deal on a reefer truck out there.

need advice from the seasoned vets

If he is a independent contractor, I don't see the Federal Labor Board getting involved. Their function is employees. If the lead driver was paying his SS and other employee costs, then it might apply. As a contract driver, small claims is your route if you have the appropriate documentation. It...

    TriState

I am not with TS, but from reading this thread, I believe some drivers have become frustrated after their rate cut and they haven't seen a increase in freight according to what is posted here. That shouldn't exactly come as a surprise unless the majority are doing the same thing. When I have...
