    Sylectus sold!!

It does make you wonder whether members will be required to purchase their additional softwares? Might be an issue to the many members who currently don't run with QC's and may be required if you are to retain your membership. Just a near future thought to ponder.

So This is the Slow Time of Yr....

OVM........you need to get out of that van and spend some time in the office. Carrier has roughly 1000 total vehicles. A third are out of service whether truck repairs, vacation, no driver, ect. That leaves about 600 or so vehicles. Of that number, a third are on current loads for that day...

So have I understood this correctly from reading old posts?

There is no right or wrong answer unless you know the rates of what you are comparing. A van could be a better choice IF you are comparing it to a carrier that pays bottom feeder rates (they know who they are) of around a dollar a mile. Many straights run well above that if just looking at...

    Would it work here?

Tea party could be considered early rumblings. Let the dollar far to historic lows and people aren't getting that government check, you would see the same thing.

If they are still getting load offers at the Fed for .70 to 1.20 for all miles as posted, your van gig would look attractive. But if they keep the straight, they can third party those same loads for closer to 2 dollars all miles and not have to respond to multiple load offers.

    Egypt and Barry

That is and will be the likely outcome. The current administration is completely lost with what to do with it. The only upside for them is keeping much of the national at home issues off the front pages.

    Egypt and Barry

Might I recommend not taking this stuff to a personal level. It is Egypt for crying out loud. Hardly worth a personal argument or agenda.

So This is the Slow Time of Yr....

I'm not sure the "slow" applies to everyone. We have been very steady since the first of the year and rates have been pretty decent. I think some, including myself just don't mention it very often. But it does seem like it is going to be a good year if looking at whats happened so far.

    Ad Valorem ??

The mileage with regards to Panther should be paid by them via the fuel tax. The rest of it should be tax exempt because it was used commercially. May require a copy of the lease and your SS#. If the person making the purchase will use it commercially, he will be tax exempt as well. If...

    First time out

The sky could be the limit if you are eating out and buying coffee and numerous other things with your listed items. Could be 50 a day if you are eating in truck stops. And I am not counting any fuel purchases.

    Expediter Services

You would likely serve your cause better if you accurately describe the benefits of your program. If your marginal information is put in a forum, it is going to be open to scrutiny and possibly marginal answers. What you interpret as cheap shots from other members is only based on your limited...

    Expediter Services

Your comments were relating to the benefits of this program with regards to Panther. I know you are now with Fedex with whom I thought Fedex supplied that same information free of charge. Maybe not? I am not there so maybe I have been mislead. As for whether I have time to haul freight is a...

    Expediter Services

Ok.....I am confused. Panther gives you all the locations and load averages for every area of the country. That is also broken down into 5 and 21 day averages available via the QC and internet. Why would someone pay for a service that is already provided free of charge?

    2003 cat 3126

The good news is that it isn't a high dollar repair. Parts and 5 hours labor should do it.

    2003 cat 3126

It would take a lot to thin it. The tell tale sign is if you have excessive blow by (oil) coming out of the blow by filter or tube. The crankcase on a Cat will only get so full before it starts dumping it.
