    What is the Role?

Just what to people believe the role of the Federal Government should be in local education? Should they have control over curriculum? Should they even be involved? Are they over stepping their bounds under the Constitution? What do you think?

Last year was one of our best since we started. This year may be too. Hard to say since it is only a few weeks into it. Only time will tell. I just hope what we are seeing so far does not turn out to be the norm. I kinda doubt that it will be.

the changing climate and interstate travel

Yeah, but it drives the post count up!! Most of the time we should be heading for the sidelines faster than we are. We should not HAVE to depend on troopers to take away that choice. Like you said, common sense. Like I said, personal responsibility. When you lose those you should not be on the road.

Even harder when they lose their truck or get killed. There is little leeway when safety is concerned. Yeah, it can be tough. I know, I have been there more than once in my life and most likely will be there again. I have never used that as an excuse and will not in the future. They should also...

There are lots of "cowboys" out there that just have to "get 'er done" no matter how bad it gets. NOTHING stops them, they are BETTER than the rest and not even ice can stop them. I seem them in the ditches all the time. With any luck they did not take out someone with them. Many times I...

Also a lack of brains on the part of some drivers. When it gets bad, I stop. No excuse for running in extreme conditions. It is the responsibility of each driver to get off the road as soon as possible even if the state has not closed the road. Carriers are to blame as well. They should be far...

I am sorry about your loss. Things like that are hard. I lost one of my grandfathers to a "bad" company. As to the salt problem in Arkansas. I don't know if it that easy to fix. It would be difficult for them to stockpile salt. It is very hot and humid down there and it would go bad after...

"Expedited" snow removal crews, good idea!! I wonder if someone will pick up on this? Lots of out put money wise to start. That will be a big draw back. I don't know about the helping out in snowbelt areas, most of those state crews are union, I doubt that they will go for that sort of "help".

    Vehicle Activity

We have seen odd things so far this year but with only 6 or 7 weeks it is hard to call it a "trend". MANY more short mile runs so far. The rate per mile is WAY up over last year and we have run 5 more loads than year to date last year. We down on gross by almost 3 grand. Strange year, hope that...

Road salt alone starts to become ineffective at around 20F. Much below that and you have to "sweeten" it with other chemicals. Direct sunlight and friction from tires can help it as well. Break out the shovels, no need to have people sitting on their duffs collecting FREE money. They can...

Now in TX. Delivered a load here at 0500 yesterday. I cannot believe this, we ran TWO REAL expedite loads this week! How odd. I almost forgot what they were like. Ran 5 loads last week, all short but they made for a better than average week. Heading for AR on Monday.

New battle opens on US carbon emissions

Never happen Greg, not as long as there are ReBumLiCans and Dumb-O-Crats in our government. The SC has become a institution to assist the legislative and executive branches in consolidating their power over the People. Our government seeks to rule and control. Nothing more.

    Egypt's Mubarak to step down

NBC? Get it wrong? Say it ain't so!! A FINE example of how THAT particular entertainment group "reports" the "news". We don't hear too much about the "bias" and "fear mongering" put out by NBC, CBS and ABC from the media bash bunch in here. Funny how they tend to only pick on one...

Greg, I know a thing or two about intell, treaty monitoring and Soviet systems. Yeah, I know what you are saying. Just don't agree all that much. As to that book, there is a Russian term that describes it quite well. I don't think the "site censor software" will let it through, but here it goes...

We WENT to Olive Branch first. NO parking spot to be found. Could barely move through the lot. People had already "invented" spots that greatly restricted the flow. We won't leave the truck tonight. Our pick up is a mile from here in the morning.

No, never seen the movie. Not into "Nuke Fiction" Spent far too much time in "nuke reality". Started the book, lost interest. Red October had some "real stuff" in it, none of his other stuff I read did. Other than a few people on the ground the treaty will make little difference on the...

But why do we NEED it? I don't get the NEED part. What is the cost to us in dollars? We can't afford to keep paying the Russians to disarm/modernize, the taxpayers here are being ripped off. Nothing new.

    WW2 remains found

One of my second cousins is one of those 74,000. He was a waist gunner on a B29. They were lost over Africa, the plane or the crew never found.
