Can't have those type of charges on tractors as they will go somewhere else. Most tractor folks aren't going to fall for that type of goofiness. I don't quite follow the concept of paying for cargo insurance if you are hauling THEIR freight. Same concept with regards to random drug testing...

Ok....why would you pay 5 dollars liability per week for a qual-comm that you are already paying 35 per week? Confused. Don't really get the $5.00 paperwork fee either if the carrier doesn't supply a run for that week. They should at least give a coupon for a $5.00 foot-long Subway. :p

I guess I will ask the stupid questions. What is a "liability limiter program"? And why would a driver cover this at $20.00 a month? Never heard of this from other carriers. 35 a week for OC insurance per person is pretty high as well. And lastly. Why would a driver pay the carrier to do...

I agree. This story is sad and down right pathetic.

    Changing Times in Expediting.

I am amazed at how high the weight has been set on the Sprinters that I see available from different carriers. Really is a safety issue as many of these folks have limited experience and have no clue of the safety or the maintenance issues associated with running over all the time. I would...

Ones reason for leaving is as valid as the ones that have chosen to stay. If any one place was that good, everyone would be there. Can be a hard judgement on someone new, but with seasoned expediters, reasons to move or stay all have merit if one is really honest about what they are looking at...

A question for owners and their drivers

We give them the statement info right from the carrier which they in turn can follow via the carrier web site. That also is available for fuel taxes and usage. Drivers see everything we see so no secrets. That is how it should be.

    2012 Cascadia

At todays rates, I am having a hard time wrapping my head around a 200k dry box truck. I would also like to see some better reliability reports from the industry sources that indicate some successes. The last one (2011's) showed 66 problems per 100 trucks. That isn't encouraging and I have yet...

Large sleepers are a requirement on anything built after 07. Why? Most of the time will be spent in the dealers lot waiting on the regen issues to be fixed. Just stop at a large dealer and look at the lines for regen repairs. Absolutely fascinating.

panther and owners pulling trucks out

You may be right on that, although the only refusal we had on it was at the Fed many many years ago. When asked at the Cat there hasn't been a problem. And of course if I book my own, I obviously know in advance. Probably be hard to short me on my own load.:D

Those are tough numbers for a contractor, but I will say it has done well for my stock there.

1.28 average for all miles isn't that bad if we are talking a van. No interest in it for a straight truck gig. I believe running under my own authority would appeal to me before that would. With regards to Panther, I wouldn't worry about acceptance rates. Worry about whether a load is...

panther and owners pulling trucks out

I am only aware of one fleet owner leaving, but lack of freight wasn't the reason. I would agree with Dave in that most trucks are likely on loads and not showing up on the boards. All of our trucks had loads this weekend with half having pre dispatches set for Monday pickups. The only place I...

    bashed in....

Very, very smart. I look at it from a fleet owner perspective and my income is still generating in the event a truck goes down for whatever reason. A single operation it all stops. Great advice.
