    Dumb, insignificant, little question

Why is that when I put something in parenthesis in a post it doesn't appear in the post?

    Need Cargo Van Advice

I'm running a '99 E350 with a Powerstroke. 640k and still going strong. The only thing thats been done inside the engine is one injector at about 130k. This is the first I've heard about doing valve adjustments. Mechanics I've talked with have not said anything to me about it. Trans was rebuilt...

    Canada Border Crossing

CSA is only for freight going into Canada. It has nothing to do with freight going into the U.S. Carriers and drivers need to be approved to do it and it is mostly for automotive production freight at this point, but it is my understanding that other common, routine shipments would qualify for...

    Canada Border Crossing

PARS stickers are not a requirement. They are for line release. You have the option of going to the broker and going through the procedure of clearing the freight. I do beleive I've seen on the forum that Childsafe has his own authority and will need to get his carrier code.

    WhiteRabbit??

I can tell you he is still working as I see his unit number when I check our board. I haven't met him yet, but we exchanged a couple of e-mails and I haven't heard anything since last one I sent. I've found our company to be a good place for a van, but since the first of the year we've been...

    Flying J WiFi

Just wanted to thank everyone for their responses and to let you know that the second time around has been much better. There must have been some kind of problem before because it's great right now. Speed is great and connection is solid. Ontario van man, I stopped at the Woodstock service...

    Log book for vans

If your hauling hazmat in a cargo van you have to log it. It's the law. TST tried to require a log from their cargo vans a few years ago and from what I hear the drivers just refused and TST just gave up on the idea. Some companies have policies restricting the miles for vans and that would...

    Flying J WiFi

Thanks for the info. When I was in the parking lot my signal was excellent. I went inside to buy the time and it went to very good. Maybe the difference is more than the terms would suggest. As to my card, I have whatever comes with a Presario 2500. I'll try again with the signal showing...

    Flying J WiFi

I'd like to get some feedback on the J's WiFi. I tried it and was not very impressed. My hour was only 45 minutes, and I was kicked off about 6 times. I was also not happy with the speed. My dial-up is better. My signal was "very good". My computer is plenty powerful enough so that speed problem...

    AUX. AXELS

McBride, the most a 10 wheeler can gross is 46,000. You can be 34 on the tandems and 12 on the front. This what I've always thought was the case from back in my tractor/trailer days. Also, a 6 wheeler would be 32,000. 20 rear, 12 front. If I'm wrong, please let me know in case I decide move up...

    First 2 weeks, Part 3

Whiterabbit, I guess you couldn't see my message in part 2. I'm also a Thompson van. 30104. Would be glad to answer any questions you may have about working at TEMF. In particular, you should know about the new rotation system for dispatching trucks. You can e-mail me. [email protected]...

    First 2 weeks Part 2

Hi White Rabbit. I work for Thompson too. 30104. I've only had 2 weeks that would qualify as good this year, and they were'nt any kind of a record. Have you heard about the new system for rotation and dispatch? Send me an e-mail and I'll tell you about it. [email protected] I only...

the best cargo van to start with

In reply to Aviator, I could afford the Sprinter, even the totally tricked out one from Knoxville. Saw it at the show and I really liked it a lot. I asked the salesman how much weight I could haul with it set up like that and he didn't know. That seemed like the kind basic info he should have...

May make urine bottle litter illegal

Thanks for the defence DD. As neat as it would have been to bust that guy and embarass the heck out of him, 28 years on the road has taught me to stay to myself in many situations. You can't allways be sure what manner of worms will come out of the can.

    Bill says hit those headlights

I'm in Canada a lot and something I've noticed with DRLs is people forgetting to turn on the lights. No tail lights can be very dangerous in limited visabilty situations.

May make urine bottle litter illegal

Your critisism is noted and even agreed with. At the time I considered getting into it with management. But sometimes you just don't want to open a can of worms, I guess. While I am a person with opinions, I'm not all that confrontational.

May make urine bottle litter illegal

Just as sad as the bottle issue is people who just step out of their trucks and go on the pavement. The stench can be absolutly gross walking across some parking lots on a hot summer day. This week I stayed at the J in Walton, Ky. I was in the auto spaces by the RV parking area. I watched a guy...

the best cargo van to start with

The only thing I would add to Teacels answer is that I don't like what I've heard about the Sprinter. I like the versatility with the height. But rumor has it there are engines puking at 100k and bad weather handling is terrible. If I did it tommorow it would be another E350 Powerstroke.

    Everybodies $.02 worth please

I will preface my post by saying I am a van O/O, but I've been in trucking since the 70's and I know enough people in this business to have an idea how you might do with a "D" unit. To make it in this you have to make it your life, pretty much. As someone who is willing to work, I wouldn't be...
