Vans vs Sprinter - Rain and Winter Driving

Teacel,My E350 came with Goodyear Wrangler HTs and I've stuck with them as I'm getting 200k out of them. I rotate every 40k and rebalance at about 80k. I do run them until there's pretty much nothing left.

    THOUGHT THIS WAS NICE

I'm a big George Carlin fan. I saw him in '74. When he came out the crowd threw joints at him which he picked up and gave to stagehands. He mentioned praying in your post. The last I heard he was praying to Joe Pesci. He said his prayers to Joe did as well as those to the invisable man in the sky.

    New Hours of Service Regs

That 30 minute morning delivery won't be a big deal because everyone will just log it like they delivered when they got there. Creative logging will continue as it always has. The talk of vans having to log someday has been going on since I've been in this business and now that the feds are...

A single axle straight truck can only be 32,000 total. 12,000 on the steer, 20,000 on the drive.

Considering joining TST with cargo van

I had a cargo van with them from 12/98 to 9/99. Run as fast as you can in some other direction. I know people who are there with cargo vans currently. They have good weeks from time to time but overall it's not a good situation.

    New DOT HOS Regs

The problem with HOS rules is that no rule will be good for the way everone works. But in my humble opinion I think 14 hours to be used any way you want, 8 consecutive off, with 2 off during the 14 would be reasonable. We could work a little more with mandated rest time.

    Lighten Up with Humour

Did you hear about the two antennas that fell in love and got married? The ceramony was kind of a drag but the reception was great. A guy goes to see his doctor. He takes off his hat and says "Doctor, I've got a strawberry growing out of my head!" The doctor says "I'll give you some cream...

    I QUIT

Gypsy,I started my expediting career 12/98 with TST. I left them 9/99 for the reason you did. As an example, they once left me sitting south of Nashville for 2 days, no load offers, and refused to give me a deadhead T.O. Friday night because I was "in a good spot". I went to Thompson with my B...

    another complaint

Hey Vanish, you should post the company you work for and your unit number so all these friends you've been making can shake your hand and buy you a coffee. A big, controversial, macho guy like you should'nt have any problem with that, right?

    LETS BETTER OUR INDUSTRY

This guy must have chosen "Vanish" because that's what happened to his personality and sense of humor. Our business is about service. The things he whined about have nothing to do with getting the frieght there on time. After you deliver your time crital load on time, the reciever will probably...

    Fern Bennett

Why would anyone stay with Fern in the first place? Can you say "incompetent"? I know a guy who was audited by OK. The first thing they wanted to know about was his Florida miles. Ther were no Florida miles. I could go on and on with stories. Mine is not the worst, but certainly an example of...

    IS THIS A BOGUS SITE?????????????

Just curious as to why you're getting bad references. If you did your job while you were there and gave proper notice when you left there should be no problem. If you know up front there will be a problem when you apply, include in your resume a brief explanation of what was going on in your...

    IS THIS A BOGUS SITE?????????????

Lawrence, just wanted to join in with those who say you dropped the ball on this one. I only post ocasionally, but read on a regular basis and have seen much worse. I found his story to be consistant with what I've heard from others. Having said that, I think EO is a very useful site and you...

    GOT A CALL TODAY.....

I have no experience running team but from what I've seen I think it's very hard to pay operating expenses and still get two decent incomes from a truck. Most successful teams seem to be husband/wife because the revenue goes into one kitty. I would also be very careful about the legalities of...

    Ford E350/Powerstroke Diesel

I have a 99 E350 with 380k. It averages about 20, with a range of 17 to 23 depending on speed, wind, ect. Under 70 is better than over 70. I've had no tranny problems with twice yearly service. 1 alternator, 2water pumps ($450 for the pump+labor), front brake rotors(they warped and they are very...

    Canada Canada

A photocopy of your birth certificate is not good enough. It has to be the real thing or a certified copy. I've heard that you can use a photocopy if it's noterized, but that's hearsay. Lately I havn't been asked much coming back to the states, but quite a bit going into Canada. I found crossing...

    Terrorists discovered at auto plant!

    Michigan vans

Hello Graybeard. I'd like to know more about your company. I live in Alpena and have been in expediting with a "B" unit for almost 3 years. Got kind of a rocky start with TST,but I switched to Thompson Emergency in Sept.1999 and have done well since then. I'm happy with them and not really...
