    Favorite skyline in driving?

Ah, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. Cheap toll, that one is. But it's an awesome view. I like the drive down to Key West. And the drive across the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway north of New Orleans. At almost 24 miles, it is the longest continuous bridge over water in the world. It's a $3 toll...

    Sprinter battery bank

First, the phrase "...like I've done with every other van" will often get you into real trouble with a Sprinter. :D If you replace your alternator with a 200 amp version, yes, you will need a new wiring harness. It the alternator is the original, it's probably a 90 amp alternator. You should...

    Favorite skyline in driving?

Yep. Coming from the east have to stop and turn around to see it from the hill. Crossing the overpass to the Flying J is a good view. It's one of my all-time favorite night-time city views. Breathtaking.

    Sprinter height

With car routing, it will often have me zig-zagging through a residential area to cut off the angle when it really would have been faster just to stay on the main road, go down to the corner and turn right. It will sometimes take you down busy shopping districts with lots of red lights, when a...

    Favorite skyline in driving?

Cincinnati through the Cut of the Hill is still my favorite city skyline, but I grew up there. Pittsburgh;s skyline is pretty amazing from 2 or 3 different angles, out of the tunnel is certainly one of them. Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas especially at night. Las Vegas is impressive, especially at...

    Canada I'm going nuts here

Those aren't gallon jugs. No one thinks they are gallon jugs. They're 1.25 gallon jugs. And if you notice, they are sold in 4.73 liter jugs. :D

    Sprinter height

Most (maybe all) of the newer models no longer have a Truck setting. I guess they figure if you need Truck routing then you should get the truck-specific Dezl units. My old Garmin had Faster/Shorter settings for Car, Truck, Taxi, Emergency (would take you the wrong way on a one-way street). I...

    March @ team Load One

Oh, the humanity! It's total bracketology carnage! Out of 13.02 million brackets in ESPN’s Tournament Challenge, 22.3 percent had Michigan State winning the whole thing. Whoops. Now, thanks in no small part to Middle Tennessee State, out of those 13.02 million brackets, just six perfect...

March - big money, big money - no whammys!!!

This should make it even funner. Alamogordo, which means "fat cottonwood," is the place where the Trinity Test took place. The Trinity Test was the very first detonation of an atomic bomb. Just outside of Alamogordo is the Trinity Obelisk which marks ground zero of the explosion...

    March @ team Load One

I don't know. I rarely use it, and when I do I rarely use it for a different Zip Code. When I want to check a different Zip Code, I'll usually just plug in city/state on the Web site and do it that way. The Maryland Terrapins beat the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. I'm just sayin. :D Also...

    Get into the game

Well, they are, for van trailers. For cargo vans, no. It's rare to find a load on the free load boards that will fit in a cargo van, either dimensions, or the load weighs 20,000 pounds or something. The shipping market hasn't tanked. There are just as many loads now as there ever was. The...

    Get into the game

If you think the downs of the oil and gas fields are mostly down, just wait until you get into van expediting. Van expediting ang the oil industry have some very apt comparisons. Supply and demand, glut. Six years ago, when you were talking to those van drivers, it wasn't as bad. It was pretty...

Heating / Cooling Need an A/C

The Onan generators that they make for RVs (and trucks) are designed specifically to meet or exceed National Park noise regulations (the A-weighted sound pressure level at a distance of 50 feet may not exceed 60 dB). Onan Quiet Diesels measure 65–70 dB from 10 feet, which is well below the 60 dB...

Heating / Cooling Need an A/C

Sorry. I'm talking about cargo vans parked out front. Noise isn't generally a problem around back, what with reefers running all night and stuff. One time I was parked at a J and an old Cadillac pulled in next to me. !970, gold, flashy, pimp mobile. Had a 5KW generator hanging off the front...

Which headset do you use? Take a look at these!

The Blue Parrot and the Blue Tiger are the only ones that have that level of noise cancellation. I've fueled up right next to a big truck with its engine and refer running, and whoever I'm talking to can't hear any of that noise. It's gnarly.

2005 Sprinter second and reverse only

A new transmission from a dealer will cost you anywhere from $4500 to $6500, depending on their mood. The Silverstars are high end rebuilds that fix a lot of the problems that cause premature failures in the first place.
