OK people, diesel over $4.! What are your top suggestions for increasing your trucks MPG? Does anyone know of, or recommend a fuel additive which is designed to increase MPG? We're driving a 08 Western Star with a MBE4000-450 and a 13spd Ultrashift which on a good day gets 8.5MPG (usually 7.5).

Isn't building an expediter truck similar to building a glider? We decide on the make, wheelbase, engine, options, etc. and then have either the factory or dealer build it for us.

Just bought a 08 Western Star 4900SA with a 285 whellbase. Tightest turn I've every experienced. Very happy with the turning ability of this vehicle.

Own two 03 Freightliners with Cummins ISX 450, auto-shifts. They get a steady 10.5 MPG. Just bought a 08 Western Star with a MBE 4000-450, Ultra-shift and am only getting 7.6 mpg during the first 3,000 miles. I expect this to increase after break-in, or I've made a big mistake with this engine.
