Can a solo staight truck driver make money?

The one thing I am wondering is that, with the strong possibilty of OBR's and paperless logs becoming a strong reality and possiblity, how much more important is it going to be for dispatchers to utilize a truck to their fullest potential to cater to the HOS rules and regualtions? Miles and...

Why not use a trailer with a van or pick up?

I thoughtit would be kinda cool to empt the van out completly, use that for hauling the freight, while pulling a 12' travel trailer behind it for sleeping/waiting for a laod, but dont think the tralier would hold up to the miles we put on it.And then the thought of un-hooking and hooking up...

But,my dear fellow, with mine being a 03,it is now just beginning to show minimal rust, which will be fixed this summer..Not bad, 8 years old? Sprinter van, I am so confused!

Assembled here, yes.But built overseas..thus, resulting in the salt-air bath before painting, resulting in premature rust spots in weird places before it is paid off, right? Too bad they do that, for such a nice vehicle.

What can we do to make it easier for dispatchers?

Read a story in a Magazine from dispatchers point of view, and it brought back some memories of when I used to dispatch as a fill-in back in 89. What can we do to make it easier for them? I know it gets frustrating waiting for a load, sometimes days on end,but I feel the more we call and bug...

Re: Ford E 350 Camshaft Positioning Sensor Recall and Failures I have had my old sensor replaced under recall, not that there was anyting wrong with the one replaced. All is fine here.So why dont you just carry an extra with you, if you are having such bad luck?It is just a 10mm bolt, a plug...

Sprinter van, I am so confused!

As much as carriers are wanting the o/o to go with a Sprinter, I cant help but lean towards a Spartan-body equipped SRW Ford or Chevy, 12 ft body, which should have close to the height and width of a Sprinter, minus 4 ft of cargo length.Maintenace is cheaper, and parts are available anywhere...

Last time Diesel chased $5.00, did it impact the number of loads you delivered?

That was the year that I grossed $137,000 in revenue, as an o/o, solo, in a s/t.I also spent $65,000 in fuel that year..But a 550 cat in a 10-wheeler isnt excactly the most fuel-efficient,either..
