    Driver's Council

It is an honor to be a part of the voting, with living in Seville, Ohio I hope to help get the Drivers and Owners heard at Panther. I worked with FedEx Custom Critcal over the years on many different things and came up with message 55 for the safety of drivers after my Father passed away Dec...

Who is paying good FSC these days?

Panther gives 100% of what is charged to the customer to their Owners. FedEx has a FSC program where you get a set amount base on what the cost of fuel each week. Those are paid on loaded miles and all okayed deadhead miles.

Short loads are they worth it?

This whole post is about not getting a 1st out on loads under 75 miles. I did a load last week and it was 71 miles. Thinking that I could take the 1st out home and go out of service like and still keep my 1st out when I came back in service. Wrong you lose it when you go out of service and you...

Short loads are they worth it?

No Panther is a very good company. I'm just set in my FedEX ways I guess. I was just pointing out what I see. I will say that at FedEx a "less than 75" is a less than 75. It's not base on how much money is paid to the truck. Thats why FedEx can cover the short loads because they pay well and...

Short loads are they worth it?

You both hit the nail on the head. FedEx is is rewarding you by putting you at the top of the board and paying you a fair rate to boot.

Short loads are they worth it?

Phil We know loads at FedEx under 75 miles pays very well. I have done my fare share of less than 75 runs at FedEx. At FedEx your not on a flat rate either. No Phil most people don't do runs for a reward they do it for money but at FedEx you are rewarded for doing a less than 75 mile run...

Short loads are they worth it?

Phil I'm talking about the company should never have to say no to the customer. The company has to make it worth the driver to do a short load. Short load shouldn't be based on money they should be based on miles. If you offer me a 71 mile load that picks up at 14:00 and after I do the load...

    How's 33 working for you?

Glad to see message 33 is working great for everyone. It's better for the drivers and is safer.

Short loads are they worth it?

Yes I under stand that too. But it works out for the fleet the next time that customer calls with that 1500 mile load because we did that 65 mile load too. I guess what I'm saying is that we should never say no to a customer. But drivers are not going to do a short load if there is no reward...

Short loads are they worth it?

Good point Dave. I know I would rather have a 1st out as reward for doing loads under 75 miles. You remember how that works Dave. I have no problem with a truck going ahead of me if they just did a load thet was under 75 miles to service the customer. Like I said before do you think the customer...

Short loads are they worth it?

I was told last night that has changed it goes by money not miles. If they load pays more than $99.00 to a D unit it's not a 1st out anymore. If you go out of service you lose that 1st out also.
