As Terry pointed out, it depends on the states definition of a commercial vehicle. If they go by the federal definition, crossing wouldn't be required. Personally, I haven't crossed any scale in over 7 months. I think the vast majority of officers working in the scales don't want to be bothered...

Av-sleeping means you can take sleep time and not lose your place in line. If you become #1 while sleeping, they would go around you until your sleep time is up. 34 hour restart is for logging drivers that have run out of hours.

IMHO, I don't see any cut&dry right or wrong here, other than sleep time should be left out of the equation. You have to sleep no matter where you're at. I would tend to lean towards Thawk's view. I know farmers that have run some form of this formula and, trust me, we're doing better than most...
