    Back Office Support ???????

I agree. He should definately knock on wood. Customs officers don't make their own rules, although their training is not always as current as it should be. The mt manifest thing is being phased in, it's not required at all crossings yet. Also, customs doesn't fax things to the broker. The...

I noticed we dropped to 1 active member. I guess we've become assimilated, like the Borg in Star Trek.

    Leaving expediting

Panther_Art, I'm just wondering how long the terms are of these payments. $900 dollars by itself is high, unless the owner took a shorter term on the loan. Does the $1000 go toward the equity the owner has in the van? If the result of this arrangement is that you have a paid off, late model van...

    I'm in Heaven!

Some, when talking about what a load pays, will talk about what the company makes, not their cut. The Roaring Express guys in Canada do this a lot. I thought they made great money until I found out what they were talking about. Their dispatch did it that way and it was up to them to figure their...

    I Shouldn't be Alive

This reminds me of a couple that sat down next to me in the TV room at the Indy J a few years back. They had a newborn whose age would still easily be measured in weeks. They were hauling the kid around in the truck with them. But that's not the worst part. It was football playoffs and the room...

    Back Office Support ???????

I think some multi-tasking would probably occur in the interest of keeping everyone busy and helping things run smoothly in general. But, people with the primary task of border issues absolutely makes sense. I only had a very small handful of problems crossing, but, when I did, guess who I...

Visteon to close Connersville, IN plant Sept 1

Good point Dog House. The Big 3(yes Greg, I know, but for all practical purposes...)were fat and happy. When the tide began shifting they laid a guilt trip on us(Buy American! Your neighbor depends on you!)instead of getting busy. Now, the Japanese Big 3 are building plants here and turning out...

    Getting perscription on the road

I do the same as Terry does, only with Walgreens. They're all over the place and some states are even putting them on exit signs. Just hand them your bottles and your out in minutes. If you take Crestor and you get to the Mexican border, it's worth the walk across. About a third of the price.

    Time to clean up NASA

Somebody in a "high achiever" position going off the deep end is nothing new. I think you could have all kinds of checks and balances in place and still have the possibility of this happening. It would be nice to get more bang for the buck from NASA. Privatize?

Many of the smaller companies don't even cross the border, let alone hire Canadians. That's why I pushed the issue. As far as Panther having Canadians interstate, I have my doubts. You may have talked to a recruiter that was misinformed. Or, they may just want to break the law. But, I kind of...

    hey

I dunno. Third base! BamBam, you've done a lot of due diligence here. This could be the red flag you really need to be concerned with. These folks did have personal issues that were part of whatever happened. I know this is not what you need at this point, but better now than 2 months down the...

They're talking about doing loads that are point to point in the U.S. I can't imagine Panther breaking the law like that. When they told him 48 states they probably meant that his loads out of Canada could go anywhere in the U.S. As for CTX, well, I've just heard rumors.

How do you feel about back to back runs?

900 miles in 24 hours? Piece of cake! There's plenty of sleep time in that. I don't think this gets into an employee thing. They make an offer and the driver has the option to say yes or no.

It's been rumored the last few years that they were going to start a Canadian division, but the only ones they have came from the Con-Way deal. I haven't heard if they are taking more or not.
