I think they hang those big chrome "Bull balls" on their bumper to make up for the "twig and berries" between their legs!LOL:P

Fuel Mileage - Winter Blend yet?

If I don't put the Howes fuel treatment in, we also see a slight drop in our MPG. As long as I keep it mixed in with the fuel we are able to stay at 7.00 mpg running 70 mph with our 475 ISX Cummins. The Bio-diesel seems to run a bit lower than the ULSD also for us.

What if you break down or get sick?

There have been some great replies to this thread. Based on what I've read thus far, it sounds like no matter how the owner of the truck feels about a stranger driving their truck if a freight transfer can't be arranged, the carrier is going to see to it that the customer is served! Like it or...

What if you break down or get sick?

Lets inter another element to my "hypothetical" scenario: Your truck or trailer has been taken on to the delivery by a driver the carrier chose, not a trusted friend or associate. This was done even though you were not in agreement with this arrangement. Then it is returned to you damaged on...

What if you break down or get sick?

My motive in starting this thread was based on stories that at two drivers have shared recently about how this actually happened to them. One claimed it has occurred at least three times. Without being there myself, I have no choice but to take it as hearsay. Thus I wanted to pose it on the Forum...

What if you break down or get sick?

Here's a hypothetical (but potentually real) situation to ponder: You've picked up your sealed load at the shipper and part way into the run you (a T/T rig) break down or you (T/T or Straight truck) become extremely ill. Be you solo or team in a straight truck or T/T lets say circumstances keep...

    ultrashifts?

If you're looking to go clutchless, the ultrashift would be the answer in a 9,10,12, or 13 speed. The down side of this transmission is the engine rpms generally have to be at about 800 for the centrifical clutch to ingage. This takes getting used to when docking as the truck may feel like its...

Haven't you heard, cold showers can be quite invigorating. Or, my wife never has to tell me "go take a cold shower".LOL :P

The Costs and Benefits of Large Sleepers

That is an option if one chooses to do so, especially with the better built after-market sleepers like A.R.I and ICT. Some have done exactly that even though it cost (approx $5000-6000) to do so. If the truck is junk and the sleeper is worth the cost to move, the savings may well be worth the...

The Costs and Benefits of Large Sleepers

When we decided to sell our 70" sleeper for our combination 170" of sleeper area, we did so knowing it would in no way generate the additional revenue needed to offset the cost of "E". Although more affordable, when you stay with the factory sleeper "B" you are very limited on size and...

    Changing lanes in Expediting

Options is the key word here. When we were in our DR-unit we always wondered what we would do if FDCC pulled our lease for what ever reason. The Black Cat didn't have a reefer division when we first got into expediting, much less any other expedite companies at the time. Since then we've heard...

    Changing lanes in Expediting

We started our careers in expediting four years ago this month. We had driven 18 wheelers for years but chose the go into a DR-unit when we switched from common carrier to expediting. It wasn't long before I swore I'd never drive an 18 again. The ease of maneuvering a DR-unit around and finding...

Way to go folks at A.R.I. sleepers!!!

We recently bought a used 2007 Kenworth T-600 with an A.R.I. 132" sleeper. As with anything used we had a handful of items in the sleeper that needed fixing or replacing. That was the easy part. The hard part was getting our schedule to match theirs for these repairs. In Expediting its...

Have Fuel Prices Changed How You Run?

WOW!!! $455 to fill up? Thats already been the norm for us (and then some) to fuel our super sleeper! Oh, and that's when we are half full. I'd hate to see the bill if I let it get any lower! LOL Having 300 gallon fuel capacity doesn't help. Lord help us when diesel really gets expensive. Wanna...

Hello, Im new to the site and...

As Nightcreacher stated, there is less competition when it come to tractor trailers verses staight trucks. My wife and I know this first hand having driven a Class 8 DR-unit ( straight truck w/ 22' reefer box)leased on to FDCC for 3.5 years. Since we both had prior experience driving 18s, we...

How Do We Expedite? Let Us Count The Ways

The married couple that four years ago one had a career job at home while the other was on the road full time driving an 18 wheeler. The time spent apart from each other was so unbearable so they decided to team together. They began their driving career in his company owned 18 wheeler, then...

A question for FXCC contractors and drivers

It has been our experiance that many first time users of FDCC services think we are the same as Ground or Freight. Many also think that FDCC owns the trucks since the other divisions of the FedEx family do.

Any Expediters Affected by California Fires?

Shawna and I finaled out a T/T load in Rialto,CA this morning. Beginning at Victorville,CA the smoke was quite noticable and worsened as we traveled on down to our stops in Fontana and Rialto. From there we were pre-dispatched on a load picking up in Chula Vista,CA. We passed the emergency...
