    Medium Sized Expedite Companies

We had a truck leased to them three or four years ago. Neither the wife or I have driven for them. They seemed like real nice folks, and our team seemed to like them. Our team is running a big truck now, however it is not in expedite.

    3126 rebuild

He says inframe won't exceed the $3,300 mark A little higher on the out of frame. He says 5 to 6 thousand plus cost of turbo if replaced. I can live with that. Much better than cost of a new engine. Hey Weave...glad it was a quick fix:-)

    3126 rebuild

That is what they are basically telling me. I quess the most important thing is that it is a fully rebuildable engine. With reviewing the costs, it seems pretty reasonable versas a rebuild of any other make. I don't know Weave, I am starting to like my cat alittle more. (just kidding):-)

    Alumi Bunk Setup

If you are starting out it is good to minimize your expenses. I think Jeff Jensen's ideas are great. Sure beats spending $6,000. If you change down the road and want someone to do it, I would at least research some of the van conversion places. I don't think they will be anywhere near the $6,000...

    3126 rebuild

Hey Weave, nothing funny about oil gushing unless it's a well, especially in 10 degree weather. Sounds like a seal or gasket?

Thoughts on the new HOS rules.

so if I am understanding this correctly, the 5 0n and 5 off would put you in violation of the 14 rule. You would be over one hour on the 3rd 5 hour drive period. Plus, you have not had 10 hours of straight sleeper time. I was so confused on this and our company says technically you are in...

Thoughts on the new HOS rules.

ok, I am still confused. I thought you could not exceed 14 hours in the 24 hour period. 14 hours on duty and 10 hours sleeper. Since you are split/breaking the sleeper period I quess does the clock restart after a total of ten hours of sleeper? I am getting alot of different answers on this.

Thoughts on the new HOS rules.

maybe I am confused. With the 5 on and 5 off you would meet the sleep requirements. But, you would be in violation of the 14 hour rule. Third 5 hour period would put you over by one hour. Am I understanding this right if a team ran 5 on and 5 off?

    3126 rebuild

I think that did include replacing injectors. I am not sure on the turbo whether a reman or new, only that he recommended it as it would be covered under the new warranty. Also, he did say they can do a inframe on a fl70 but they are more difficult than when the engine is out. It is easier on a...

Thoughts on the new HOS rules.

Team operations will have some advantages, but will still have to be creative in some situations. If a team runs 5 on and 5 off, on the next set, you are past the 14 hr. rule by one hour. We may try 6-4-4. Kind of a pain, especially on those west coast specials. Our carrier says they are...

When are they going to realize..

I thnk that reality will start to set in when their corn flakes and toilet paper are not on the store shelves!

    3126 rebuild

it makes sense with what you are saying. I would rather pay the extra $3,000 up front to get that accomplished. Especially if you are going to keep the truck awhile. Probably not recommended on our old log truck as it is getting up there and is a old fl70. But I like that idea on our kw. I would...

All "D" unit drivers!!! What was your average gross Dollar amount this year for all the miles you dr

RE: I love this Poll !! You could count it as truck operating revenue but we choose to seperate it. Biggest reason is there is very minimal cost. We run a generator which burns a gallon or two every 24 hours. So we look at it as more of a wage based payment. For us it represented only 1% of...

    3126 rebuild

That would be my thoughts. If they are machined, maybe they make them larger to compensate. That would require engine removal. If not, it seems like you would be giving up some power somewhere. The only other thought would be if they turn it up. Harder on the engine but cheaper than a new one...

Thoughts on the new HOS rules.

I think the new rules were designed around lobbying and state revenues. It sure wasn't around safety, common sense, or even a basic knowledge of how the trucking industry works. Look at any other typical government program and see how well it works. Pretty much the same results.

    feedback on Panther2

That is a pretty accurate description. We have adopted a policy of "just say no" if they make too unreasonable of a request. Like all companies, some dispatchers are great, and some are too new to have a clue as to what is going on. Once you are with any company for awhile, you quickly learn who...

All "D" unit drivers!!! What was your average gross Dollar amount this year for all the miles you dr

RE: I love this Poll !! I agree. the only thing I didn't include was detention time because I look at that as a seperate issue in our operating costs ect. We have had detention time for a whole weekend which was a significant amount of money. That would tend to "color" the results that you may...

    3126 rebuild

I wondered about this as well, and he is saying that they have quite a few of them out there now and haven't had any problems that would make it stand out to any other rebuilt motor of a different size. Keep in mind that I am far from the expert here, and am passing the information as I get it.

    3126 rebuild

Not exactly sure how they compensate for the difference in dispacement as you would think there would be some difference. I will have to check on that. He did say that they put a remanufactured head on it that I quess is just for this rebuild. I should have him address all the technical...

All "D" unit drivers!!! What was your average gross Dollar amount this year for all the miles you dr

RE: I love this Poll !! It is certainly possible to average over a $1.00 a mile for ALL miles. We are doing that now. However, we have been on the other side (with a nameless carrier) in which we averaged far below that $1.00 a mile. Keep in mind that I am factoring border crossing pay...
