    Fairness, where?

I agree that the doctrine is BS, but I don't see how it would eliminate conservative talk. My understanding is that it would require stations to give equal time to liberal views. It is sad that since the libs can't come up with programming that people really want to listen to, Congress would...

    Cargo Van / Sprinter Income

7-9k for a trans would be a Sprinter. It can be done for 2,500 in an E-350.

    need advice on tweener truck

I have a friend that recently had one of those Areocell's built. He's a team with Landstar and downsized from a D-unit. It's a Ford E-450 with a V-10. 14k and change GVW. It was a big mistake! He's sitting and doing nothing. Something like 3 loads in a month or 6 weeks. The gas mileage is...

Sprinter and Cargo Van Loads Please help me

I agree with Mike. There's just a whole bunch of vans out there sitting and waiting. I don't have any personal experience with the load boards, but it's been said here that van loads are few and far between. I'd concentrate on freight for the trucks you have.

    Is PantherFOR ME

The fleet numbers for Panther and Custom Critical are going to be pretty close. If Panther is the biggest it won't be by a huge margin. I'm just wondering why these are the only 2 companies on his mind when there are so many to choose from.

    Need help!!!

I've never heard of once a month pay in this business, ever. Weekly, bi-weekly, or twice monthly is the norm. A three week holdback in lieu of escrow would be fine. Having only been around for a year they could be operating on a very thin shoestring. To me, it just gives them control over too...

    Is this normal?

I believe post accident is also federally required, but it depends on the severity of the accident. No test for a minor fender bender. As far as vans, it's all for the insurance company. DOT physical, vehicle inspection, the whole 9 yards.

Huh? Am I missing something? Does this rambling have anything to do with getting a class C CDL? Hmmm... Was posted at 2320.

    3126 w/10spd Shift Points

It's possible to skip gears, but don't even worry about that until you become accustomed to the trans. There isn't one particular shift point. As Piper says, the important thing is the proper timing in your shifts, although shift points are important for fuel economy. Remember, you're not in a...

My intent was never to upset the board

I think Pj's got a good handle on things here. I didn't see the post that caused the banning that started your rant, but being familiar with that posters repeated personal attacks on Greg, I have no doubt that it was warranted. Then a guy that's only been around a couple of months, with a...

    One angry trucker

I suspect that most of the time people just forget to dim, as opposed to being intentionally rude. Haven't we all had a little "highway hypnosis" before? If you just look away from your mirrors for a moment it's over. Blinding them with one of those bazillion candlepower lights is rude and stupid.

Anyone ever lose a load because they had a pet in the truck with them?

Most searches of my truck have been as you described, just quickly going through the motions. I did have one that was VERY complete. I picked up at a Marine base in DC for White House Communications. One Marine went through the truck for about 20 minutes while another stood guard with an...

    Stuck with load on

As I understand it, it has to be a load in the general direction of the border. So, a Canadian sitting in Dallas could take a run to Cincinnati, but couldn't take a run to Miami. But I haven't heard anything about it being passed into law yet. As Redytrk says, a blind eye being turned.

    Straight Truck start up

There's a lot of variables here. Much of what you ask about will vary from state to state. How heavy will the truck be? New or used? A good place to start would be the IRP office of the state you live in.

how much power using a laptop

Thanks, I'm glad to hear it's a good one. My sleeper's relatively basic. The hardest the inverter gets used is running the microwave for 2-3 minutes. I really like the shore power when I'm at home for a few days.

    Press GET's B*tchSLAPED!!

Ark, I saw it yesterday. Not bad, not great. Most of the humor is pretty cliche. There are a few good laughs. (OVM, take note of the correct spelling of the word humor.) TallCal, I think he fell short of being homophobic. He didn't mention how incredibly funny it is that he's gay and has...
