    Perspectives

That was to point of this story. It is hard to imagine that in MOST of the world the poor are starving to death. In the U.S. many of those on welfare have an obesity problem. They are even ALLOWED to buy cupcakes with their welfare money. Canada has not room to complain either. For the most...

bracing for 1st snowstorm of the season

NO COFFEE???!!!?? Things are FAR worse than I thought they were!!! We have a coffee pot, electric skillet, Rocket Grill and a George Foreman Smart Kitchen Multicooker in the truck. Along with our microwave. We make coffee in the truck as often as we can. It is far cheaper than...

Our ONLY problem right now is BOREDOM!! There is just so little to do. At least we are not broke down. I know that feeling.

    Perspectives

This article has an interest perspective on the OWS crowd and American's in general. Maybe we don't need protests as much as we need another heavy dose of that good old American work ethic. Maybe many of those who "protest" and "complain" have done everything they could to put themselves into...

bracing for 1st snowstorm of the season

Glad I could lighten up your evening for you! :D Every season presents is "challenges" to us expediters. My first cargo box got eaten (totaled) by a hurricane. This one got "hammered" by tennis ball size hail this past spring. Snow and ice can bite you on the rump and a tornado can rip you a...

bracing for 1st snowstorm of the season

Don't forget, when in snow country, "DON'T EAT THE YELLOW SNOW!!" LOL!! That snowstorm in '82 dumped 26" in 14 hours. There was "thunder snow" that time. One of the few times I ever saw that. We sat under the Brooklyn Bridge for 3 days one time on a load, guarded as well. NO bathrooms...

bracing for 1st snowstorm of the season

Mrs. Layoutshooter just informed me that it was in April of 2010. We were on a load from Burnaby, BC to Houston, TX. We were checking the internet as we drove, got the road closure BEFORE we reached it. Stopped at the TA in Ft. Bridger, WY. We were there for 3 days. At least it remained open...

bracing for 1st snowstorm of the season

We also carry a "winter survival kit" in our truck. It has LOTS of "goodies". We have 3 days each worth of freeze dried foods. JUST in case we get REALLY stuck and run out of supplies. We have a hatchet. A folding wood saw. Fire starting stuff. Extra socks, boots, etc. Signal devices, mirrors...

Wal-Mart, and Prescriptions on the Road

We use Wal-Mart and deal with it. It IS a pain. For mine I am on the 90 day thing, they come in the mail. I plan truck work, doctor visits etc around that. We TRY to have Mrs. Layoutshooters on the same time. Works out MOST of the time.

bracing for 1st snowstorm of the season

We used to live near there, about 1 hour south of Harrisburg, in Glen Rock, PA. I worked at Ft. Meade, MD. In Jan, 1982 we had a blizzard. I did NOT get to leave work for 3 days. No one could get in or out of the place. When I FINALLY got off work it took me over 4 hours to drive the 63 miles...

    staying warm tips!

Shoot Greg, my brother and I used to go up north snowshoe rabbit hunting every Jan, many moons ago. We kept a small heater in the cab of my pick up to keep the water "soft". We had NO heater in the back where we slept, just GOOD sleeping bags and a big piece cardboard. Every morning we would...

    truckstop power outages

They are calling for snow here in Wytheville, VA tomorrow. Power outages happen all summer too. Thunderstorms, tornadoes and don't forget flooding. Bad weather happens in all seasons. Shoot, I would even be willing to bet that in the U.S. more people die from weather related problems in spring...

    Occupy Oakland

Extreme force? Hardly. Not even close to EXTREME force. Soviet Russia used EXTREME force on their people. So does North Korea, China etc. It may very well come to the use of EXTREME force as the left becomes deeper and deeper entrenched in our ruling bodies. It is their way. Look at the...
