Alot of loads from the expediters are spot bid. Especially NLM freight ect. Most carriers have a freight model they use when bidding these types of loads. Just about all auto freight is moved with this proceedure. It is amazing how little or sometimes how high some of the freight is moved at...

Sounds like some interesting experiences. I as well would be very careful on your deadhead. Seems quite high based on your post. In fact you may have been way over 50% if you had deadheaded to Ohio from TN. Certainly can't be much profit in that line of thinking. You were smart not to do that...

You will over time start to find where the best places are. Some may be weekly. We notice some areas that freight only comes out say on thursday or friday. Other places it is Monday and Friday only. As mentioned, go to where the probability is the highest with your company. Davekc owner 20 years

While the issue has never come up, it would seem easier to carry a small roll off shrink wrap. Especially if you had multiple pallets. A net may be difficult if the boxes are too high on the skid. Shrink wrap gives you the flexibilty for any size pallet. Davekc owner 20 years

Your estimate of .40 to 1.10 CPM makes me feel a little better, but how could anyone operate a truck at 1.10 CPM! Most cannot operate at that number. The ones that do usually end up losing their trucks. Not to mention houses and everything else. The bank or finance auctions always have repoed...

Marty Good advise. I am not sure what the weight was on these areocells but one said he never logged, and the other said only on a rare occassion. Certainly not an expert on the vans but thought it was a cool set up. I quess some companies are slowly responding to payiong for the extra capacity...
