    Lift Gate Safety

Alot of good information. As mentioned, exposure is extremely high and doesn't corrospond to the rates. The other sale is that you get more loads. Maybe. You lose as many as you gain because alot of plants won't load a truck with a gate. The other scenerio not addressed is the failure of the...

The real bottom line in WG

The white glove of the Roberts days are much different than what you see today. Rates were quite different. You are right, that was when you could make some big money. Davekc owner 21 years

The real bottom line in WG

Your post (Ateam) has some valid points, but could have been edited from the 4000 word essay. I am aware that much is your own experiences, but without specific information from both Panther and Fedex, your information is quite misleading. Again, one doesn't have to look far to realize the...

    Changes at FECC

That could be a good thing. Most will depend on where they set their rates. Depends also on how they calculate their milage. Davekc

    Changes at FECC

I would only think this would help their drivers. FedEx drivers do a tremendous amount of DH. With doing many forms of freight (small package, home delivery) I wonder how their tariff rates will allow drivers to run LTL or bid on freight. Alot of questions I would think? Most LTL and partials...

The real bottom line in WG

I can see based on your story Bigred, that it does still have it challenges. I can see where many might get injured in doing this type of work. As to whether it is profitable within the industry depends on what company you are comparing. It has to be figured that a "regular" run would put...

    QC question

The information is for your type of truck. If it says 7 loads a day, they aren't counting semis ect. If you are in a van, that is what they are sending you. As Leo mentioned, it is only as good as when the information was generated. It also out of the trucks available, doesn't tell you how many...

The real bottom line in WG

There is something else to consider. You run the risk of getting hurt when you do inside deliveries/pickups and lift gate loads. Good point. Something I tend to over look since I wasn't personally driving. I carried extra disability insurance for these teams. A driver if going it alone, has to...

The real bottom line in WG

This is probably a better location for this post. It is true that the WG drivers make more revenue. With that comes alot higher investment and ongoing costs. By the time you weigh the investments and additional costs, they are essentially running for the same thing. Of course that is my...

    White Glove

    >Not all W/glove runs will make you a millionaire as a member >posted. Certain customers such as IBM, Prax Air,Lockheed >Martin command huge discounts and do not pay the FSC. We at Panther have had our drivers pick up regularly at Lockheed in Orlando, and they always have a fuel surcharge...

It almost seems like this is moving to another topic. It is true that the WG drivers make more revenue. With that comes alot higher investment and ongoing costs. By the time you weigh the investments and additional costs, they are essentially running for the same thing. Of course that is my...

    Idle-Aire a flop ?

I stand corrected. I thought they went public last year. There is potential but much work is still needed. We will have to see if it turns into the ParkNView. Davekc

    Idle-Aire a flop ?

Tried it once and wasn't all that impressed. A/C stunk to high heaven. Not a company I would buy stock in right now. Davekc

    Flat Bed Freight

FedEx Custom Critical had, or still has, at least one flat bed O/O in the Atlanta area who keeps it busy. I don't know if they are interested in any more of them but it never hurts to ask. You are correct. I think both FedEx and Panther have some flatbeds. Not sure on Conway? Davekc

    HIT BY 4-WHLR! NEED LAWYER!

Sadly, Brooms post depicts an all too often story. That is why new folks have to really take their time doing research on carriers. Recruiters are a valuable source, but their information is limited. They are in the business of selling, not looking after your interests. Most of the time...

    Walmart Parking Lots

In the states that refuse parking at wal-mart, we found that Lowes and Home Depot are a good alternative. Park in the back by where they deliver. We did this many times in CA and never had a problem. Most shopping centers have the rent-a-cops that kick you out after a couple of hours. Davekc
