    Generators

It is cooling a 84" condo. No curtains closed ect, although the side driver and passenger windows are tinted. It kept cool with the fan on medium. It is different than the other rigmasters that we had. This one has a small computer box with auto start. (haven't figured that out yet). It has two...

    New HOS and teams?

Based on that, each person can drive eight hours and then switch. Doesn't seem like it would be easy to sleep 10 hours? Looks like a gift to PATT and CRASH At least the black boxes weren't part of the package. Davekc

    Fleet Owners

I was going to pay my drivers 47% of my net, which is close to half and I have all the liablity of truck break down, repairs, workers comp, etc. Of course they were going to be 1099. Who is paying for the fuel? You or the driver. Most operate on a 60/40 or 40/60 The higher amounts representing...

    New HOS and teams?

I think RichM is on to something. Does make you wonder how this new change will effect single drivers within expediting. Davekc

    Generators

This will be interesting as we just bought a unit that has one of these with 554 hours on it. Works great so far. 100 degrees in western TN and it is working well. We will keep our fingers crossed. Davekc

    sink

As far as sleeper companies, I believe every one of them drains the sink water to the outside. Toilets have a grey water tank (must be dumped at RV facility like flying J) as well as showers. On the showers, you can grey tank the water, or open drain so it runs out on the ground. Davekc

    Why have the Expeditors Expo?

Why have the Expo to promote expediting if we are not positive about how we are all making a living? If you are so unhappy with your job maybe it is time to look for something else? Nothing is keeping you here but you. I think you are confusing two issues. The first being ones attitude, and...

Gas prices vs. Fuel Surcharge and Pay Rates

OOIDA is a great organization that does alot of good. With a membership of 125,000 they are very limited to do anything politically. The suggestion of a name change would certainly help, but they are in need of adding many members to be effective. With such a transient crowd in transportation...

    Fuel

I certainly don't know since I haven't seen any current ones. Some do have a provision but they are capped at a certain amount or percentage. Some have no FSC provision. Little by little, that is becoming a rarity. I am basing that on when I did my own contracts many years ago, and not the...

    Fuel

Many of the low paying fuel surcharges are tied to contracts that were written when fuel was $1.50. Situations are changing in that one can't just haul any load and hope to recover the loss on a later load. Options are clearly more limited until there is some movement in the actual freight...

    LIMITED EXPERIENCE NEED ADVICE

Rich is correct, Of course research is everything, and I am in the process of doing a 4000 page essay on the correct proceedures for correct turning and proper identification of low bridges and how to respond accordingly. I probably should include a business plan that accounts for deductions to...

    Panther2 loads last week

I agree with Thawk. Anywhere in Missouri is better than #3 in Tulsa unless you are the #3 truck but #1 team. I likely would have taken the Missouri load. Davekc

    Health Ins and Workmens Comp

While there are simularities there are differences. Workmans comp is offered by the state and is usually very expensive. Company plans or private ones, are really disability plans. Many states now mandate that you must have some type of approved policy in place. Davekc

    Panther2 loads last week

The auto industry is taking a hit, especially because they are stuck with alot of trucks and SUVs. Production of the smaller cars are at pretty decent levels. They are selling alot of cars but without the big profits. With regards to recruiting, all of the carriers are looking for as many...

    Panther2 loads last week

garman351 wrote; Panther ii wants a truck at every corner everywhere for that quick responce at our expence. I have talked to several teams who have seen a dramitic slow down from last year at this time. And I hear on an average a team will sit atleast one day during the week or more, think...

    teaming a "C"

Most of the bigger carriers recruit for this size unit. Read through the archives so you can develop an idea of who you might want to sign on with. It will at least give you a starting point. Davekc

Anyone ever had a problem like this on a dock.

As mentioned, call dispatch, then go out and go to sleep. Let dispatch charge them for detention time until the morning when they are ready to sign. Gotta keep the customer happy. I am not completely unloaded until they sign the BOL, regardless of whether the freight is in the truck or not. Davekc

    Health Ins and Workmens Comp

Most carriers provide a low cost disabilty policy. They are somewhat simular to workmans comp. Most are at fleet rates so they are more desirable than what you could obtain on your own. But like anything, it never hurts to shop around. Davekc
