The Promaster has two heights and only two lengths in the high roof, so the Promaster numbers probably are the tall height extended version. Ford should say EXACTLY what versions they are showing numbers for AND who did the testing. My RAM dealer also owns the Ford dealership right next door...

Honestly, I think the Transit has a six speed automatic and there is no engine/gear combination that will not downshift in conditions you describe. I think that is the "new" way of thinking with big vans + automatic transmissions with 6 or more speeds. I would say get used to it or don't try to...

Meanwhile I am in a Promaster I actually own and actually drive myself with almost 25000 miles on it and, believe it or not, the roof has not ripped off, the front wheels are still attached, the engine has not exploded, the transmission has not melted it down, and the driver is sane...

I tried but could not find that original posting in the Promaster forum. I really wanted to respond to it over there and ask the guy if he had one of those new RAM twenty thousand mile warranty that I've heard of from diehard $printer owners... ;)

A bunch of hearsay and cut paste comments don't mean much, as the person with the actual experience isn't posting. For instance, the guy who supposedly posted on ther Promaster forum complaining about flywheel flex plate type trouble obviously doesn't even know what the Promaster warranty is...

He needs to go to a RAM Commercial truck dealer. Not every Dodge or Chrysler dealer is a RAM Comercial Truck dealer just like not every Mercedes dealer is a $printer Dealer. Try taking your $printer to a non $printer Mercedes dealer and you will be shown the street quicker than you can say...

Someone with a new vehicle that has a factory warranty might pay a dealer to do an oil change just to ensure the warranty has no questions

U I have every fuel receipt from day one including the odometer reading when the gas was put in. My very first tank of gas was over 19 miles per gallon and it has steadily increased ever so slightly until 10 thousand miles when I changed to Mobil 1 full synthetic and it jumped more than 10%...
