    Start-Up Info?

Er, that's a really vague question, but the most experienced expediter would say the same thing I am: whatever information you are looking for is somewhere on this site. Just start reading, (I'd start with Ask the Recruiter or Newbies), and you will get all the info you need - and some you...

    Good advice to fledgling newbies.

Perfesser - that was classic! Of course, I've never done anything like that, (snort), but my advice to newbies would be: if you decide to listen to an audiobook to make those all night drives go by faster, don't get so involved in the story that you forget to keep an eye on the mile markers...

I second that emotion. (With thanks also to Smokey Robinson for a great line)

    Legal Issues

T Hawk, that was priceless! I keep thinking "not the bedpan!" and it cracks me up - thanks! On a more serious note, it's obvious that shippers have had bad experiences, or just bad impressions, and all we can do is try to give them a better impression. And spread the word about those places...

    Emergency facilities

When I read the directions, I thought the one that said "insert bottom" meant to put your own in, (a perfectly natural mistake, considering the subject), and after that it got truly weird! :P

    Why are people so negative

Sorry, BD, but it's not just the money that keeps me out here! (And, no, that doesn't mean I'll give any of it back, lol). It's the work itself, the different places every day, the fact that expediting is really two lifestyles, and I like them both. The loaded lifestyle is focused on just one...

Just Give Me One More Minute!

For me, the best part of camping was the evenings by the fire, when someone would bring out a guitar. It's even better if they could sing! Even without the campfire, which ain't gonna fly at any truckstop, lol, music would be a nice way to pass a few hours of downtime. I bet there are a...

    $$$FUEL PRICES$$$ MUST READ!!!

I agree that voting for the candidates who acknowledge the need for change is how we can change things, but I've received an interesting email about how we can have an impact much sooner. As Rich said, prices are supply & demand based. We can't do anything about supply - but we can reduce...

    Your Opinion Please!

    >If it's me you are addressing in your reply, WELL before I >go any further I'll wait till you respond to my question. > >BigDiesel, are you directing that comment to me? > >I haven't been leased to a company for 15 years my friend. >I have a DYNASTY and it is doing fine. The O/O's I hired...

    Cooling Off

Having a wall between you & the cargo area is helpful, (keeping in mind the room for freight) because it's a much smaller area to heat or cool for comfort. I used the window shades too, until I got some fabric at Walmart for $1.00 a yard, & some Velcro, and put pieces of Velcro above the...

    Dirty Truckers

Before washing my hands, I get an extra paper towel (or handful of t.p. if there are air dryers), tuck it against my side while washing & drying, then use it to turn off the water & open the door. I feel better (literally!) when my hands are clean. And I don't eat at truckstop buffets! The...

    New Competition for Expediters

    " NO EXPEDITORS!"

RE: Here I have to throw in my 2 cents. When I see selfish drivers zoom past all those who are waiting their turn, I always hope that this time, NOBODY will let them in - but someone always does! Not me - I refuse to encourage the jerks, and they will NOT get in front of me. That said, I have...

    GPS THRU YOUR PC ???

I got MS S&T with the GPS - & I can't really use it driving alone, but I do really like the "Find nearby places" function. Whether you're wanting Chinese food or a golf course, you can get address, phone number, & directions. It's nice to play with whenever you have some free time away from home.:)

    Free showers on Oh turnpike

Thought I'd share this in case I'm not actually the last driver in the whole country to find out - the plazas on the northern part of the pike (all the newer ones with white domed bldgs) offer free showers, they're pretty nice, just bring your own towel, soap, etc.

World´s shortest and best fairy tale.

    Now it's the Hurricane's fault???

Mostly, I agree with the comments that the city of New Orleans and the state of La are to blame for not having an evacuation plan & disaster recovery implemented, and the federal govt is to blame for denying the money needed to improve the levies & floodwalls. The people who didn't evacuate...

    fuel cost

America is a great place, and it would be even greater if the politicians weren't for sale to the highest bidders, and the laws weren't written to accommodate the greed of the biggest corporations in healthcare, insurance, banking, etc., and incompetence at the highest levels (like the federal &...
