    Bad fuel?

I know what you are talking about, moisture will cause some problems but the water in fuel light should go on if there is enough. Gas in diesel is a problem, I have had it happen a couple times where it didn't do damage because there was enough diesel to dilute it but it run like crap and the...

    Who Said it?

Historically... it is traditional and habitual for us to be inadequately prepared. Thus is the combined result of a number factors, the character of which is only indicated: democracy, which tends to make everyone believe that he knows it all; the preponderance (inherent in democracy) of people...

    Bad fuel?

Just a guess, sounds like you may have had some gas mixed into the fuel. The electronics may have taken care of the rough running but the power would have been in the can along with the mileage.

    3% of trucking capacity GONE

But we are leaving out another factor that is involved with Diesel prices, the competition with Europe with refined diesel on the open market. We don't refine all of the diesel we use, we import a bunch of it and this has been going on for a while. With the EU having a majority of Diesel cars...

"lazy IT guru" Well.... yes.... there are a lot of lazy IT people out there doing a lot of damage to things but they ain't guru's - there is no such thing in IT and anyone who says they are, who passes themselves off as one or who let's others say that they are knows less than a 5th grader...

    3% of trucking capacity GONE

I would venture to guess that when the number hits around 6% we will see more screaming about shortages and if it hits 9% we may see rates increase and equalize enough. 3% is not going to effect anything when it comes down to it. 5 trucks or more on a carrier is considered a large carrier?

Alloy Wheels for Chevy Express Dually

A few years back Alcoa was making rims for 19" tires and I think 16". The question is do you want them to make the truck look good or to reduce the sprung weight on the axles? If it is the latter, I would be careful. I was told that some of the alloy rims are as heavy as the newer steel rims.

Hows the the new FedEx CC FSC program working for

I don't know..... I never would have thought that FedEx was a trucking company, they don't truck anything.... But the FSC program was explained to me by non-CC people with the bigger picture in mind and I understood the reasoning behind it and further more see where it improves the company's...

    Idelaire Increases Prices

India, I have the Honda I got for nothing (total investment is now sitting at $65) sitting on the bench ready to go except for the head gasket which arrived after I left, so nope not on the truck.... yet....all of them are at home! I don't mind the heat, it is the humidity that is...

    Why Oil Is So High

The dollar is falling because they are lowering the interest rate and we have no investment quality in the country. Also as I am thinking of it, we are the only country that does not allow our natural resources to be used. Russia, the FORMER Soviet Union has lower taxes on Oil companies and...

A Threat RE: Pictures at a Casino?

Advice is a good thing but what I see is that even at $4.75 a gallon, no one seems to be driving slow enough to save. I came out of Dallas yesterday and I set my cruise at 63, 60 actual mph. I was being passed by every truck and car, some of the trucks were passing the cars. I am hearing...

    Idelaire Increases Prices

Maybe I missed this one but as of tomorrow.... June first, Idleaire is raising prices - Fleet/gold card holders - $2.45 an hour *60 cent increase. Silver card holders - $2.89 an hour Now I would think with the higher fuel prices, they would rather lower the prices for the Fleet/gold card...

    The Changing Economics of Expediting

The Changing Economics of Expediting?? Ok, this is more about everyday life than anything to do with expediting. Whether you are in a car that gets 40mpg, or an RV or a truck, cost has risen enough to make people think twice. Not picking on Phil but... Phil can't wash his truck on the road...

    Bring Lawyers, Guns and Money

But Vinnie, it is the people who are at fault for the poor leadership and what has happened. We let them rule us instead of us ruling them. No one has yet learned that the people are the one who is in control, the example is the immigration bill and how the senate got the message - no. The...

    Panther

I am surprised that you are not having your insurance company tell you how to mitigate risk in your new startup carrier. They would be the first one I would be talking to, not the company lawyer - I would have him/her sit in the meetings but they are the one who is insuring you.

    19,000 more Expediters?

Lawrence, I own several vehicles. My FL-70 is made in Mexico My '97 dodge is made in Mexico My '98 Caravan is made in Canada My '87 'burb is made in the US. In ten years, I went from a high end real SUV to a P/U - both cost the same but the cost of labor had a difference of 40% - with...

    Very Disappointing numbers

Maybe I misunderstood this when I was at FedEx but when I was told that I was to get an inspection from Carrier for my reefer unit, Carrier said it was separate from the T-Val process. The inspection started out at $350 and could have been as high as $600 depending on if they have a problem or...
