How many of you are hams?

I borrowed one for a few months and it was ok, but when I got the IC-7000 to use I was sold - a better radio.

    van line haul distance

I just got a bunch of emails from different DOT contacts about vans. I sent them five qeustions, one about under 10k vehicles, one about drivers, one about Fatigue and Sleep, one about insurance and one about record keeping. All of them responded to all the questions One question is "Does...

van floor.. 2 finalists compete head to head

I wouldn't use the 2 footers on the floor, if they were on the walls ok but get two 10 foot sections and put that down on the floor. The short sections can flex enough to pop up on you when you are loading something heavy. FedEx requirements? Well there are a bunch of their vans that don't...

    Looking for trk to drive

That's hasn't stopped a lot of people, the price of some of these entry level trucks are just unreal - one in the classifieds $15,000 for a 2001 fl106 is a good start and it has a nice sleeper to boot. $15,000 is an easy approachable amount, figure another $5000 for the cost to get on the road.

van floor.. 2 finalists compete head to head

Why not get two 10 foot sections and cut off what you don't need? Ever think of L-track instead? It seems to work for those crazy sprinter drivers and saves a lot of weight. After a year and a half with the van, I should have used that with light wieght e track on the sides for my wood...

    jumper box

Well Leo, it is somewhat of an overkill in preparedness, even by my standards because if I am not mistake you got a new van. The idea would be justified if you have no other batteries on board and like to run the battery down playing you Xbox or watching DVDs on your big screen tv. I would...

    van spare parts list??

Lamps - yes Headlight - yes Belts - yes because not everyone will have that right belt but can change it on the road Fuel filter - yes Oil filter and oil - only if you are going to change your own oil These are things that you have if you have a used van, buying new I would just get the lamps...

    jumper box

Leo, Just wondering why worry about it if you have a new van? You should just get AAA with RV and save on weight. By the way I have one of those branded booster packs made in China, it started my truck and cost $125.

    van line haul distance

Rlent, I know you're not ignoring me. The problem I am having is that you are tying the work we do with the right to drive or it looks like that. We work under the same laws and regulations, there are no real exceptions but if you as a van driver don't need to log in 49 states, great, but...

    Looking for trk to drive

Well the sad thing is everyone wants to jump in right now as usual and that means it is an owners market. We have these increases in freight, some are making money and some are still struggling. All the while many make it out like it is a good thing to get into at the same time complaining that...

NO TAX INCREASE...except on Healthcare Reform

There are two senate bills and a couple in the house. The one in the house that was passed will be the one going into committee for reconciliation with the senate bill but the senate will have to reconcile its mess first. It will be a clusterf*** of a mess when it is finished and we have the...

    The IRS cometh

It's not a political thing and the four hours is the standard line. Have your settlements with you, your logs if you drive a truck or your load information you keep, like the extra copies of the BOLs or run sheets (unless they are on the settlement sheets but bring them anyway). Also have any...

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

Well mine is not alone. I know of another FL80 with a new ISC in it being used for testing that will start in all kinds of cold temps. It was slower cranking but still started. That engine is a 2007 or 2008. My firmware is newer too but it is a CAPS system (maybe that has to do with it). It...

NO TAX INCREASE...except on Healthcare Reform

You all need to stop reading the blogs and start reading the details of the bills. It is really sad that many of the adult population of this country don't get that they will lose what they have today and most of us will get screwed, irregardless what income level you have. I don't want...

carrier reefer message out of range

I see if I can get a copy of it. Be careful power washing it from the inside. don't use a lot of pressure against the condenser. How often does it defrost? I mean what do you have it set on?

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

You may be right, but I am also thinking that the timing adjustments on these Hinos are not as aggressive as the other makes for emission purposes.

carrier reefer message out of range

Carrier gave me extra manuals, the dealer was good about handing me the manuals, the parts manual and other things that I needed to keep on hand. The only thing that the dealer or carrier has helped me with is the interface between the unit and the computer. No one seems to want to help with...
