    Can anyone tell me

Granted, no one can say where the truck is headed except the driver, but as reply #3 quotes, the Macro 8 is billed as "real time, updated by the second" which is nowhere near the actual truth of it. Wrong information is worse than none, IMO. The few times I've used the Macro 8, then called to...

Never liked Imus but give me a friggin break

TallCall: please say that you did NOT mean to defend rap or hip hop artists' (and I use the term VERY loosely) references to all women as "ho's". Whether it's Imus, Snoop Dog, or Howard Stern, the men who disrespect women merely for ratings, publicity, or their own amusement are to be pitied...

    Rain Gear

RE: RE%3A Rain Gear I like this one better! It's just a bit tricky, finding an extra hand to hold it, when I'm using both already...someone should devise a way to keep the bumbershoot overhead, maybe a hatlike frame?

    Can anyone tell me

If the information on the location of each unit is taken from where the drivers say they're going, then why pay for a satellite system?

    Cargo van logging question..................

Therein lies the difficulty: if you work a regular schedule, providing hours worked the last seven days is easy - but we don't have anything remotely resembling a regular schedule, leaving the choice of making it up, (which I think a very bad idea, on a legal document), or logging off duty. I...

    Can anyone tell me

Doesn't matter if they increase it to a hundred times a day- if the information isn't accurate, it's worthless. Worse than that, even, if you take it at face value, and DH to somewhere that looks underserved. It's primary value lies in showing where the freight centers are. I once asked...

    ups expedite

Col, I'm sure you're correct, in that UPS doesn't care, but India's right too: brown is an ugly, depressing color to be surrounded by all the time. UPS may be huge, and successful, and a great company to work for, but they look dull, drab, and cheerless. Color is a mood influencer, and before...

    Rain Gear

The wet hair can be solved with a 'gimme cap', it's the wet clothes that make it such a pain! In a torrential downpur, you're going to get wet - I don't know of any way around it, except full raingear: pants, jacket, and hood tied tight round your face - always real attractive, lol. Either way...

    Cargo van logging question..................

I posted on this same quandary last year: if we're not required to log every day, and then we accept a Hazmat load that requires logging, accounting for the last seven days cannot be done accurately - I doubt I could recreate yesterday, as a log requires, and get it right - how could I do the...

    Health Insurance For Contractors

If you believe that people can use the local hospital's Emergency Dept in place of a doctor, for minor complaints, then you've never tried it yourself, lol. Most hospitals are 'for profit' enterprises, and they take that part of their mission very seriously. They are obligated to treat you ONLY...

    English, anywhere but here

Oh, THAT'S who Barbara Billingsly is! There are so many screamingly funny scenes in Airplane! it's hard to pick a favorite, but I'd vote for the "Suckerware party", myself...course, you guys have probably never been to a Tupperware party, and didn't think the idea was as funny as I did...:P...

    English, anywhere but here

All things considered, I'd rather learn to speak French! ;) And BTW: who's Barbara Billingsly?

    Hello from Florida!

Holly, congratulations on getting the license! Wish I could be in Fla this weekend, too, but the expedite gods are sending me in a different direction. (They usually do, when you want to go somewhere, but they're smiling on you now, at least:) )Enjoy!

    English, anywhere but here

No argument here - I get annoyed everytime I hear "Press one for English" when I call a business or organization. I've never pressed any other number, but if it were up to me, the response would be "Hang up & call back when you learn English!" It never ceased to amaze me when a non English...

What age group do you belong to?

RE: teams vote for each member And how come "authority" looks so young? My doctor doesn't look much older than my teenage daughter!:o Well, here's hoping the downhill slide is exhilarating!;)

    you maybe next!

I never really thought about income vs sales tax till Greg posted a link to Fairtax, but the more I think about it now, the more a sales tax seems the only way to straighten out the mess the IRS has become.

    Does a candidate need....

I don't think that one heroic act qualifies anyone for leadership - it may have been genuinely heroic, or it may have been no more than an impulsive act. What counts is the character of the person over the long haul. On the whole, I'd think military experience is better than the lack of it, as...

    you maybe next!

I don't think that's true YET, Star, because EO's own tax expert doesn't see it that way, but we ought to keep an eye on the issue. Per diem has a lot more to do with time away from home than the GVWR. It needs to be preserved for van drivers, most of whom have less meal preparation facilities...
