    Bad Bad Laundry Day

I've never left anything as large as a phone in my pockets, but I've sure melted a lot of Chapsticks, lol. What I do now is, when I've checked the pockets, I button the waistband of my pants, so I know the pockets are empty. Now I don't melt any Chapsticks, just lose them...:+

    Dieting in the truck

Bambam: what are you doing driving, with a 'terminal illness'?!

    Dieting in the truck

Maintaining a healthy diet on the road is tough, but having a fridge and microwave allows us to store and prepare more vegetables and salads, though in smaller quantities, which means shopping more often. Another thing that helps is making substitutions wherever possible, like using mustard...

Help us welcome our new Moderator.. JohnO!!

John, I don't think there's a better choice for the Mod Squad - welcome aboard! Hope you'll still find time to hike, and keep up with your trail journal, it's a great read, and a great inspiration too - thanks for taking the time to write it. :-)

    Protest May 1

Speaking strictly for myself, Marty, my children will not ever be illegal aliens - because they have been brought up to respect the law. I have no quarrel with legal emigrants, welcome the additions, in fact - but illegals are NOT law abiding citizens, and tolerating their continued presence...

Before the Mexicans can drive, they need dispatche

RE: Before the Mexicans can drive, they need dispa Robsdad, please calm down, and understand that Fish wasn't calling you a liar, just pointing out that what you reported is hearsay - which it is. That doesn't make it untrue, necessarily, just unverified. I can't see why we'd need an 'American...

Adding Cruise Control to GM van

I added aftermarket cruise control on my Dodge van, the stalk kind - it was done by Auto Impressions, in North Olmsted, Ohio, and cost $250. One month short of the one year warranty expiration, it started acting up, so I took it back for replacement. Instead of the stalk kind, which I didn't...

    Storage Ideas

Along with the tubs, baskets, and containers, I like to hang things, on coat & hat hook units - lots of stuff can hang, and be handy when you need it.

    Mysterious Text Message

Isn't this like deja vu, all over again? We got the same msg last month, at the same time, too, no? I found one on my cellphone this morning, and I don't even drive for Panther anymore!! If I could just figure out how to text STOP, I would, but it doesn't seem to work like regular text msging...

    We need more gun control

I've posted my position before, in total agreement with Leo, so I'm not going to restate that, but I find it sad that we are bemoaning the media's glorification of criminals, nearly 200 years after Mark Twain pointed out how bad an idea that is - do we never learn? Or is it just that 'anything...

    Religious Holiday coming up....

I picked one perfect rosebud, outside the Pilot in Ft Worth, Tx, and enjoyed the sight and scent of it, all day long. :)

    extra work

Arkjar: you & I have had our lil differences, lol, but I can't tell you how impressed I am with your willingness to make lemonade out of the lemons you've been handed lately. It's REAL hard for those of us who are fiercely independent to ask for help of any kind, so I know it wasn't an easy...

What's the greatest guitar solo of all time?

I am really liking the Les Paul/Chet Atkins stuff, but think Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits belongs on the list, too! ;)

Has any one heard about the Truck-Out planned?

I'd like to see it too - it'd be nice to see someone remind the bureaucrats that their job is to represent those who pay their salary, not sell them out! }>

Do you lose your pickup in the parking lot?

That is the dumbest, most useless thing I've ever seen done to a truck!

Home Time Didn't Work - DH 2200 miles UT to NC

It has been my experience as well, you may as well accept the fact that you will DH from wherever you are, when you need to head home. My experience, of course, is in a B unit, which pretty much rules out the possibility of backhauls. I have requested 'Home time' 3 times in the 8 months with...

    Cargo van logging question..................

Then cargo van drivers would be required to log now, because there is no accurate way to recreate the prior seven days otherwise, in a job without any sort of scheduled hours. I'd like an 'official' answer, too, but no one can make sense of the way the laws are written, and the answer seems to...

    Can anyone tell me

RH: I think you're referring to the 'suggested layover' sent after delivery, not the Macro 8, right? The suggested layover is based upon probable need, but the Macro 8 is supposed to be actual fact: how many units are in an area. I think we all understand that how many are 'enroute' is just a...

    Rain Gear

I wouldn't buy any more ponchos, plastic trash bags with holes for your head & hands are better than that - they don't blow up over your face in the wind, and you can throw them away after one use, without feeling guilty about it. I really would like an umbrella that left my hands free...

    Cargo van logging question..................

If drivers aren't required to log, why would they? And if they don't, until required to, how can they be expected to provide an accurate account of the prior seven days? That's just an unreasonable demand, impossible to satisfy. I prefer to be law abiding, but it has to be possible to do so, eh?
