    Have you seen this expediter?

Just switched trucks, (& owners, but the same carrier) to this one: ubiquitous KW T300. Y'all can recognize me by my name on the driver's door, (Garcia on the passenger side), or possibly by the big happy face - I love this truck, lol:D

    OMG I am IMPRESSED

Leo, you and the rest of the Drivers' Council deserve a lot of credit - the go between is seldom appreciated enough by either side, and you're a pretty stand-up guy to volunteer for the headaches. Hope you get more tangible rewards than just the satisfaction of trying to do the right thing...

    8-2 Logging

Correction: the "out of hrs @ 0200" should be 1400 :o but still: if the 14 hr clock begins at 2400, and DOES NOT STOP, it will run out at 1400, period. Only a 10 hr break will stop the clock, and neither an 8 hr stretch in the sleeper, nor a 2 hr stretch, will stop the clock - you said that...

    A wave of new Expediters?

Of course it will have an adverse effect on those who haul a lot of automotive freight - but not all of us do. (I haul very little automotive, myself.) One would think, though, that the planners at those carriers would have predicted this development some time ago, and prepared for it - it's...

    A wave of new Expediters?

I already know this and have said a few times the people are stupid for chasing the cheapest item instead of the better quality item. Stupid? I don't agree - it's a matter of resources, not intelligence. Just as Turtle pointed out that obesity is more common on the low end of the economic...

    Hey Mr. Expediter.....

Hey Wingnut: as long as you're not doing it while driving, what's wrong with multitasking? :D PS I'd take Hillary through Detroit, myself.:p

    8-2 Logging

Kraig, the only exception to the 14 hr rule is the emergency clause: you get an extra 2 hrs if an emergency (usually weather) occurs, but it must have been unforeseen at the beginning of the run. That one you can use as often as you can prove that it qualifies.

    8-2 Logging

Tis very confusing! I guess everyone is citing a 2 hr break, because that's the minimum required to count towards the 10, but it can be more - you can take 3 or 4, if you want. The part that makes it "almost not worth it" is the fact that a break of less than 10 hrs will not stop the 14 hr...

    A wave of new Expediters?

A few observations: it's real easy to get outraged at the 'excessive' wages paid to the autoworkers, but those wages could never have reached those heights without the approval of the management. (Who can't demand reasonable wages, having set the bar so ludicrously high for their own salaries...

Are Recruiters Really the Lying Scumbags Drivers Say They Are?

Ummm - south of the cheese logs? 2 minutes to Judge Wapner!:p

21 Years and you're out of here!!!

As you clearly have your head on straight & priorities in order, I'm thinking you'll land on your feet, wherever you go. But, best wishes, and thanks for sharing - and maybe we'll see you at the Mid America Truck Show.:)

Leo, that's excellent advice - but I never took the laptop out, unless I was using it, (still don't - it's too fragile, expensive, and irreplaceable to risk, IMO) and I hope others can benefit from it, but I will never be in that position again. If only because I have a Garmin now:p

Are Recruiters Really the Lying Scumbags Drivers Say They Are?

Recruiters sometimes get badmouthed by drivers. Carriers sometimes get badmouthed by drivers. DOT & FMCSA get badmouthed by drivers - hell, other drivers get badmouthed by drivers! Anyone who wishes to respond to any badmouthing, knows that this is an Open Forum - why would they need an...

    Unfrickinbelivable

The part of the quote you cut off there, said "By whatever program they use" - I know they don't pay actual miles, thank you. Turtle, when it happened, I didn't have a Garmin to check the mileage, just S & T on the laptop, and there wasn't time to check before rushing off to the pickup. Now...

    Unfrickinbelivable

Turtle, I once had the same experience as Bearcat, where the actual miles far exceeded the paid miles, and when I brought it to dispatch's attention, the response was "We billed the customer for the miles on the load offer, so that's all you get paid for" My feeling is that I should have been...
