    Does ExpeditersOnline.com work for you?

I was gonna say that maybe I'm just not able to explain it, (or left out just one, eensy step or something) and maybe someone else could be more helpful - but then I saw where you added it, and it just cracked me up!:D I like it that way, lol:D

    You Be The Carrier

Could find a lot more, too - if I had the time to waste looking..... Who are "these same people" anyway?

    You Be The Carrier

Speaking of "gumption or kahoonas" (and does that stand for 'cojones', Col?) how come none of you bothered to actually answer the question Louixo asked? Which I thought was a good one, but all y'all do is get all superior about unnamed folks who "whine all the time". OVM, maybe you could take...

    Does ExpeditersOnline.com work for you?

Yes, EO works for me! (And remember, Lawrence, that if & when EO needs something, it works both ways) :)

Would you be willing to shut down??

How can the Government help? By reducing the excessive taxation of fuel! The Government has helped many industries (mortgage, housing, savings & loan) and corporations (Chrysler, Continental Airlines, Bear & Stearns) out of financial troubles that were caused by their own mismanagement and greed...

Would you be willing to shut down??

It's not just the skyrocketing cost of fuel that's squeezing us, it's the increased cost of everything, without any increase in rates to compensate. My carrier has increased the FS, but not the basic rates, so every other increased cost is a decrease in my net income. Sure, I can "talk to them"...

    No Complaining

I wonder where we'd be today, if this idea had been popular when our founding fathers were complaining about taxation without representation... If I got Greg's meaning, complaining should be accompanied by some activity or proposal to correct the perceived unfairness, and I can agree...

    Weird Road signs

Hey Pel, I believe that's where a bunch of people were planning to stage "The Next Woodstock", but they never got any further than naming the site.:D

    making a living

The answers to your questions can be found by reading all you can of posts for the past year, particularly on the Newbies, Newbies FAQ, (don't miss "Expediting is a business" by TerryandRene), and General Forums. There is a Forum specifically for TriState, but it's relatively new, so your best...

    Increase MPG

It IS hard to slow down, conditioned as we are to the need to hurry, but it does no one any good to go so fast that we make mistakes, or have an accident. No matter when the load 'must' be picked up, we need to proceed at a speed that is both safe and smart, ie: fuel efficient. Dispatch won't...

    Successful Expediting, secret 47

Even knowing a little about 'mob psychology' & 'group dynamics', I still think that individuals who are straightforward & honest will be so whether in a group, or one on one. We just need to decide what we believe, and what is just self-aggrandizement, or excuses for failure to launch, or...

    OOIDA tour

Agree with Leo: our professional lives are ruled by the many Federal entities (DOT, FMCSA, etc) that don't "hear" any individual voices, only collective ones - and OOIDA is the only voice we have working for us. Y'all know the old saying "Together we stand, divided we fall", right? Well, I'd...

Something I had to figure out the hard way

The most embarrassing moment for me was the first time I tried to open the hood on a big truck, from the center.....the guys nearby let me dangle in midair for a few minutes, before they stopped laughing & showed me how to open it from the side. :o Man, do I hate wiseguys!:p (Except, of course...

    Clean it up!

I can think of few things more satisfying than busting someone's bubble, when they thought they were anonymous.....;) especially if you got the photos to prove it.

    p c miler

Another benefit of the stand-alone units: the "reset trip data" feature on the Garmin Nuvii (and I presume on similiar units) is great for keeping track of mileage driven in each state, for fuel tax purposes. Just reset at each state line, (make a note of miles driven, before it disappears:D)...
