    The Mother Load's here!

Generally accepted conclusions are the status quo. Wasn't it you who said to think outside the box? Touche :P

    The Mother Load's here!

Yeah, I'm a skeptic... especially when someone's telling me they're doing 4% dh among other things. Call it WHINING if you want, Weaver, I call it an opinion. I'm just trying to save a few newbies some grief. And I'm surprised at the other "veterans" because I know most of them have seen a song...

    The Mother Load's here!

Anyone who succeeds has my blessing. As for what you're dishing out, I have this quote to counter yours... "He who buys need one hundred eyes. But only one's enough for those who sell the stuff." Ben Franklin

    The Mother Load's here!

No Problem... if I remember correctly, a couple of months ago you were crying you couldn't make a couple of runs with Express-1. Now all of a sudden, you're saying you've been preparing for lean times 4 to 5 months ago? Seems to me something's fishy here. Irregardless of the screwed up time...

    Which is the better truck?

One other thing... the front axel on the KW is going to be way heavy. And a longer nose isn't the best thing on a straight truck. A T-600 is better because the nose is shorter and sloped. Are you limited to those two?

    Owner financing

Hi Frank, How would the deductions go if I'm buying equipment with owner financing? My current truck is owned by someone still paying it off. I'm assuming I can't deduct that one cause he is. The second truck is owned outright. Thanx T-Hawk

    Digging in here and learning!

Dave, if you thought OTR was a hassle, just wait till you get into expediting. The slowest time of the year is coming up for the business. The best thing you could do is find an owner and jump in someone else's vehicle. That way, you're learning and not losing money. Then after awhile, get a...

    Newbies and the truck search

I would recommend that you put in fridge and microwave, and leave room for all the other toys. Give the idea that they CAN expand with your truck. That's the way I'd want mine... usable, yet simple enough that I can customize the rest myself. Of course, then you have the made to order group...

    professional occupation or no?

Come on, Preacher... now you're preachin. You're going after something that may not be an option. But even to the ones where it is an option, I'm not going to walk up to them and start taking stuff off of their plate till just the peas and carrots are left. That is their business. Only thing...

    roller floors

If memory serves me right, the C-5 is the length of 3 football fields. While in the Marines, I was based at Stewart ANGB, and those things were MONSTEROUS!!! Our C-130s looked like toys next to them. Anyways... both the C-5s and the C-130s have the rollers, and I doubt the loadmasters could get...

    professional occupation or no?

Preacher... hate to say it, but you're 1/3 wrong. You can wash away dirt, but I don't see many Jenny Craigs on the road, so you can't really jump on the bigguns. Besides... they know the best places to eat ;-)

    professional occupation or no?

Ya know... sometimes I wonder if the dirty truckers keep the funk so the dock ppl will get them loaded/unloaded sooner. I can imagine one going home to the wife... "Gladys... runs me a hot barth. I've beena putrid fer 7 weeks n 7 days. But lets eat first."

    professional occupation or no?

A-team brought up a good point. Is it possible to be an unprofessional professional? I would argue yes. I'll give the driver his nightly leak on the tires, but that's going to the ex"stream". ;-) Unprofessional truckers are what give us the stereotype that we're the trailer-trash (no pun...

    new or used landing ger

your cheapest bet would be to try where there are junk trucks and have a trailer repair shop put them on. Other than that, you could try alumijunk. Let me ask you... did you leave your dollies down and drag them? I did that once from Kentucky to Michigan. I didn't notice till I got to the...

    Is It Happening Again?

So dramatic, are we A-team? LOL Yes... the same thing will happen. Business will boom, companies will put way too many trucks on, and people will fail. Kinda sounds like the cycle of the stock market, huh? When this happens, I wouldn't mind being in the position Davekc was a couple years ago. He...

    Box repair in Kansas City

Hey Broom... just wondered if you had your cameras on when the jerk did that. I'd love to see the look on his face when you tell him, "let's watch some tv." :7 :7 :7

    driving, no experience

Panther requires no experience, and if I'm not mistaken, so does FXCC. It's not the same as it used to be. Not only do they want you to go to an orientation now, but they want you to magically grow experience too :7

    Solo Averages per week

Yes, but when you're a newbie whose been quoted a figure and get way below it, you wonder why. Dispatch usually won't help, and a company that large cares less if you make it or not. The "whining" as you would call it is either followed by a repo or bankruptcy if it's not remedied... so I would...

    Knoxville TN ?

8% sales tax isn't that much higher compared to other states. And the nice thing about Tennessee is that it's thin and surrounded by 7 other states. If you're making a big purchace, go to a cheaper state and get it. But the cost of living in TN already makes things relatively cheap to begin...

    handling downtime...

The carriers are required to abide by your HOS. They are very liable if you get into an accident and they have given you a load that doesn't allow you enough time to deliver it legally. Of course, it is up to you to tell them how many hours you have left available, or how long you need to sleep...
