    Obama gets standing ovation!

So, to Cheri, Doug, et, al, to criticize religion and the religious, and all that they represent as being the root of all things bad throughout history, to say that the world would be a better place without religion and the religious, and then to praise these same religious students as being...

    Looking for names

I'm wondering whatever happened to 'Teacup Express' - what I thought was maybe the worst name ever, lol. Visions of ladies in summery floral dresses, hats, gloves, and itty bitty poodles just doesn't strike the right note for expediting.

    Obama gets standing ovation!

I don't see where Doug's characterization of the students as 'bright and capable' is hypocritical or ironic. I'd have made the same assessment, because I don't think those who disagree with me are stupid, necessarily. It seems to me the hypocrites are those who feel Obama deserves nothing but...

ohio raises speed limt july 1 THIS year

Stupid as Ohio is, [mental]Illinois is even worse: still have the split limit, AND they post the legal blood alcohol limit- what possible help can that be? [By the time you know what your BAC actually is, it's too late!]

The annual EO awards are here!!

Haha - we just ran into Terry O'Connell, who gave Kenzie a dog biscuit, and she accepted it graciously, but wouldn't actually eat it, lol. Terry thought she's a prima donna, but she doesn't usually eat treats - she hides them. Preferably under a pillow, sigh. Now, if I could persuade DOT...

    Keep Talkin Barry

Barry has NO idea what so ever and on top of that he HATES this country and what we stand for. That's an outrageous statement IMO, and one you've made many times. So I just wondered whether you've ever made your opinion known to the President, and you answered by NOT answering the question, I...

    Keep Talkin Barry

Can't help but wonder whether any of you with such strong opinions on the President have actually sent any mail to the White House addressed to 'Barry', 'Obummer', etc - or is it just here that you feel free to indulge in the namecalling and outrageous statements?

    Re: Multiple memberships

The 'mess' on the Soapbox just goes with the territory, but my point is what Pjjjj said [more lucidly than I did, as usual]. I know of several posters who have been made aware of their carrier's displeasure with posts here, and having read the posts, I can say that they were NOT bashing the...

    Goodbye "Don't ask. Don't tell."

This is getting a little too 'out there' for me - I'm going to go read something that makes sense, like PG Wodehouse. :p

    Goodbye "Don't ask. Don't tell."

Now where have I heard that one before? Oh yeah, it's one of my own favorite quotes, lol. But it's WHAT you do that shows your character - namecalling just proves your anger, not your point. If Mr G's intent was to get you all stirred up, you went along with his agenda, didn't you? C'mon...

    Goodbye "Don't ask. Don't tell."

Sadly, I think we HAVE devolved to the point where we don't have a clue what our government is really doing. Not with our tax money, or with their wars. Between 'national security' and just plain apathy, they don't tell the truth, and we don't demand it. I don't feel the poster insults the...

    Goodbye "Don't ask. Don't tell."

I've read a LOT of vile hate filled statements here, and have never asked for censorship of what I don't like. Instead, I exercise my freedom of speech to state my beliefs - it's what the Soapbox is about. I disagree with what you say, sir, but will defend to the death your right to say it [and...

    Goodbye "Don't ask. Don't tell."

As 'objectors' never become a part of the troops, my point stands: troops enforce policy, but do not make it. Mr G's poster does not insult the troops, but the government, which the rest of us do on a daily basis, lol. The abortion argument will have to be held in another thread - this one's...

    Goodbye "Don't ask. Don't tell."

You miss the point: the poster insults the US government, not the troops. [The troops do not make official policy, but they must enforce it.] Looks as if you support freedom of speech only as long as it agrees with your opinion, huh? You however, have violated the EO terms of participation with...

    The empty airport

You're 'preaching to the choir" here, Joe. And I've suggested voting every single incumbent out of office for years, as a statement of voter dissatisfaction, but people seem to care more about television programs than what's happening in DC, sigh. It's kind of a 'chicken/egg' question: do...

    The empty airport

Looks like a strong argument for term limits to me - 'pork' projects like this don't get through without cronies, ya know? As bad as the airport is, there are so many more wasteful monuments to some politician's monumental ego that we never hear about, it just makes me sick! What's being done...

What's really underneath the kilt? (Photos attached)

The answer to the thread title is in a song by The New Barleycorn Singers: a young Scotsman in a kilt passes out on the roadside after a wee bit too much to drink. Two lassies come along, and curious, peek under the kilt. Finding nothing there but what he was born with, one lass ties her blue...

    Goodbye "Don't ask. Don't tell."

I "can't remove the religious aspect and still call it marriage"? Yes, I can, and I did. As I mentioned earlier, religion itself took many rituals from pagan worship and changed them to suit their own agenda, so it's ironic that they now insist none of their own rituals be changed.
