Expedited drivers – a hot commodity?

Ditto what SloRide said: if I were looking to change carriers, I'd be looking for one like yours. When this whole ordeal is behind us, the O/Os, drivers, and carriers who function as a team will be in much better shape, and those who don't will be looking for something else to do. Good thread, Tom.

    Unions run this administration

Before you move on to the next phase [where you are accused of 'piling on' or 'targeting' those with whom you disagree], I'd like to say that the blog linked in the OP is really long on supposition, and entirely lacking facts to back it up. The writer blames unions for contributing to, if not...

    Owners Watch Out

Can't help but wonder how such people keep finding a place to land - doesn't anyone check their background?

I think Leo has lost it?

"A mandate" is in the eye of the beholder, methinks, and who cares, anyhow?

    Shoulder injury

I can't do it in the KW, but I used to keep a 2lb dumbell in the overhead compartment, and did some stretching exercises with it while driving during the night. Kind of limited with the left arm, but those of you who drive team can do it in the passenger seat, too - just don't bonk the driver...

    Letzrockexpress in action

Since 'The Edmund Fitzgerald" was never a favorite, I listened to "Dear Abby" instead. I was expecting the John Prine song, but a "sappy, patronizing love song written at the Flying J about someone else's girlfriend" was pretty good, too. :D PM me your schedule, please - I might get to catch a...

I think Leo has lost it?

.you all are lucky you don't frequent the liberty boards i do.....what i post here is small potatoes compared to what you would get on them.... lol!!! Luck has nothing to do with it. The Soapbox was conceived as a forum for debate of current events, an exchange of opinions, hopefully a way to...

EO University Workshop Expo Workshop - Focus on Learning

Ditto - I missed it last year [sigh]. Love the time with old friends, and meeting new ones. :)

    CDL for Fuel

They certainly have the right to attempt to prevent driveoffs, but we have the right to attempt to protect our personal info from identity theft, too. As Turtle pointed out, the loyalty card has all the info they require - if that's not good enough, I'll go elsewhere.

    CDL for Fuel

LOS: it wouldn't help in this case, but when you write a letter of complaint in the future [dunno why, but I think you will, and good for you! :)] it is more effective if you include what it is that you want from them. When you don't request a remedy, it's just a complaint, and those too often...

    Joe Legal vs. Joe illegal

I believe a large majority of American citizens are opposed to 'amnesty for illegals', but we've been ignored in favor of the business interests who can pay for lobbyists. Unless you're 100% Native American, your ancestors were immigrants at some point, and they did it the correct way, no? We...

    Commercial Truck Rentals

JP: you also need to arrange for IFTA [interstate fuel tax] coverage if you go out of state, and drug screens - pretty much everything the DOT requires of a carrier. Ark is correct, you need more than just a truck. Perhaps your uncle can offer more information on which ducks you need to line up...

    Recovering my stuff

You are correct - but with a contract, you have something to take to court, should it come to that. As he agreed to return your belongings, I'd be persistent in asking "When?" and offering to meet him half way, or go all the way - getting them back is all you want, no? It's a learning...

    CDL for Fuel

It could be read that way, and I bet they will, too - easier than actually responding to a legitimate complaint. :(

    Compliments to Bolt

One thing Bolt 'gets' that I appreciate: they don't require a giant logo be placed on your truck [and charge for it!]. We always hope the relationship will work out, but if it doesn't, the owner's property doesn't suffer for it.:)

    Recovering my stuff

There's enough here for an interested party to figure out who they are - I wouldn't add anything more. [No doubt, they have a different story to tell]. Biggest question: did you have a contract, and if so, did you follow it?

Break up of the USA and civil upheavals

That's what jumped out at me too - and anyone who would wish the destruction of the USA, merely for the pleasure of saying 'told you so!' is guilty of treason in their heart.

Palin bites it,Sanford cries it,Rush highlights it

Wow - maybe Palin is really The Consonant Guy, and resigned to have more time for EO? It makes as much sense as the reasons she's offered so far.....
